DS-230

It's confusing because the G325A does ask for full addresses. The first time I looked at the DS230 I did not notice it did not ask for full addresses. I'm the USC so I don't have to provide that info, but I was bored one day and tried to see if I could remember all the addresses I'd had since age 16. I could actually remember most of them, except for the zip codes, and I could not remember the apartment number on one of my old places. I'd still have the same problem people here have---there were quite a few times I moved back in with my parents, then to an appartment, then sublet an off campus apartment over the summer for 3 months, and so on. Luckily, my fiance has only lived in Edmonton so it will be easy for him.

Meridien, if you were primarily based in one city in Australia and just travelling for weekends or a week or two at a time, you could probably just put whichever city it was.

That's a good point Sonoran. Plus ensure your DS-230 matches your G-325A exactly (I don't mean addresses - just places and dates and I mean for the 5 year period you entered on the G-325A of course).

Ooh I just faxed out my DS-230 on the 4th, the same day I received packet 3. Let me tell you the problems I have with that form for K1 applicants!

#9: Including my present marriage, I have been married ZERO times.

Why is that even on a form for K1 applicants? It's so confusing, like a trick question!

#14: Name of Spouse, spousal info.

K1. No spouse!

So I wrote "0" for #9, but I filled in my fiance's infor for #14. Then I freaked and emailed the Vancouver consulate. They replied to say no worries, I should have written "N/A" but to bring the corrected form on my interview date, which is March 31st!

So don't freak out too much about the DS-230 if you faxed it off already. Just bring the PERFECTED form on your interview date so they can see where you made errors, if any.

Btw, what do I do with the Form OF-167? Do I need to fill that out? We don't have sponsors, neither of us are on welfare or receiving any government assistance, etc.

How long is the medical?

I don't really know what an OF-167 is, I think it's just instruction on your affidavit of support? Anyway, I'm sure someone else can answer that.

As for the medical, what do you mean, how long it takes, how long it takes to receive it afterwards or how long it's good for?

OF-167 is two pages of instructions and one page with a statement basically just saying that you know your obligation is to support your fiance for whatever amount of time it is. There is nothing to fill out except the USC's signature, which is why it is not available to be filled out on line, I guess. I think it is required only for K1s, though I could be wrong.

I meant to ask how long is the whole medical process? I'm just curious if I should drive or if it takes more than 3 hours I'll take transit.

So I should mail the OF-167 to my fiance and have him sign the form and mail it back to me so I can bring it with me to the interview, correct?

Thanks, all.

Yes, you send it to your fiance to sign and send back to you.

There are a few other things to fill in as well as the signature (this is obvious looking at the form, but I was not looking at it when I answered and I want to correct what I said)--his name and address, your name, relationship to sponsor, marital status.

All you fax to them is the first two pages of the DS-230 and the checklist. The rest you bring with you to the interview.

Yeah, I understand that. It would be only two pages if I didn't have so many attachments! :P This way it will be at least four I think, but that's okay! Serves me right for being a flighty teenager and having a million jobs I guess! ~giggles~ :D
