I got a text from the courier company that my 'US Embassy item' will be delivered tomorrow, between 8am and 6pm (gotta love how specific they are! :lol: )

I wonder what it is... maybe I did so well at the interview they're sending me a Mystery Prize :) :)

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

I'll bet it's your American flag, giant foam "USA #1" finger, and yellow magnetic ribbon that every immigrant gets. (and dear lord you're going to be sick of seeing on the back of EVERY...SINGLE...TRUCK in Texas.). It might also include your official "USA Big Book of Songs." With memorable songs like: "USA!"

Yeah - I can't recall seeing fairtrade coffee in Starbucks when I've been in the US but then I hardly ever go to Starbucks so... ;)

They do have fair trade, but it's not as good as Tully's :)

Yep, here's some good news from Frankfurt! My visa was approved yesterday! The Consul just took my fingerprints and that was it! I'll stay in Germany until mid June to sort out some things and will be traveling to Washington on 06/18.

The most exciting part about the whole "interview" was when I was handed a booklet called

"Welcome to the United States- A Guide for New Immigrants" :D

Can't wait to finally become Mrs Nieto ! :luv:

Congratulations!!!!! So Frankfurt was easy and stress-free? How long did it take for them to schedule your interview once you sent all your information in?

P went back to Germany yesterday :( He'll get his police certs and send in his checklist and await his interview. He has to finish grad school and with any luck will be back here mid-July.

oh, if you haven't already, you MUST check out A Bit of Fry and Laurie... it's way old - like, twenty years or so - and so many people only know him from House (and get surprised he's actually British :? )

Okay, so I have to admit to never actually watching the TV show, but I had NO CLUE that Hugh Laurie was House. Wow! I mostly know him from Black Adder. He's one of my favorites. Stephen Fry is awesome too. He defines "dry wit" in my book.

im getting so nervous / anxious for our interview!!!!

I had sent her to the embassy with March 29th as the date of trave in case they asked. Which was originally the plan. But now I'm moving into a new apartment on April 1st so I want to get some things moved in before she gets here. The living room and bedroom will need to be furnished once she gets here and she can help pick out the items, and the matress, something she has never done before. New plan is mid April depending on when she gets the Visa and the CFO Seminar (Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar at the Commission on Filipinos Overseas) she has to take.

It is a requirement of the Philippine gov't that she participate in this seminar before being authorized to leave the contry for immigration. One of the things that worries me is that one of the key points of this seminar involves spousal abuse in the US. I hope she doesn't get the wrong idea from this seminar. I know I'll never do it, but I hate the fact that apparently the issue is big enough in the States that a foreign country has to tell you about it before you immigrate.

Hahah - That is too funny - Jeremy never realised he was British at all - I tried to ask him about Blackadder but it was lost on him... I will have to re-edumacate him ;)

How did you guys find out when NVC received your cases? Is it ok to call them everyday or do they document our calls? They probably can't if they don't have my file yet right? Again I see that Vermont is blowing California away in speed. Our case not received...Vermont filers approved after us...received already like 2 days after. Not one single step in this process is going to be smooth sailing for us, I can see that.

That's so cool that you're going to furniture shop with her. Great way to make her feel a part of things right away :thumbs: . It is really sad that they have to hear a spiel on spousal abuse before coming here. I hope it's more geared toward giving them info on what to do if something goes wrong and not a lecture like you're taking a big risk like ther'es so many abusive spouses here in the US. I have heard horror stories about men shopping for wives online and then using them as a free maid or some ####### like that. And not going through with the rest of their immigration so that they're an illegal here and have no choice but to stay with the jerk.
