Morning ya'll!

I'm a little peeved already today at work. I work in one office from 8-12 then another one 1-5. In the first office they had told me earlier that they wanted me to organize (clean out) a storage room they have and take inventory of the things in there once I got settled in(the 8-12 job is new). Well I wear dress clothes and high heels to work. So, if I'm going to clean out a storage room then I'll wear blue jeans and tennis shoes. They asked me to start cleaning it today. I'm wearing my brand new dress pants and 2 inch heels. Don't you think they could have told me yesterday they wanted me to start cleaning that stupid room out today so I could have dressed accordingly. I don't really think lugging boxes around in 2 inch heels is the smartest thing to do. Plus if these pants got ruined I'd be pi$$ed. I'm stuck. Should I just start straightening it up a bit and moving things around to make it look like I'm doing something? Then tomorrow I can wear my jeans and tennis shoes and really get things done. I hate to just sit here and do nothing(when I say nothing I mean work on other things besides the room) since they did ask me to start on it. I'm afraid they'll think I'm just ignoring the fact they asked me to work on it. She did say if I had time could I start it today.

Why don't you suggest to clean out the storage room tomorrow? I would just ask them. Tell them that it would be just more efficient when you wear flats and that you can move around the things faster then. If they insist on you doing it today, maybe take of your shoes and roll up your pants a bit Is it a really dirty storage room? Or one of those in-office stationary storage rooms with carpet and fancy shelves?

It's not dirty really. It's carpeted but doesn't have fancy shelves. It has two copiers, a metal storage cabinet full of office supplies, a table and chair, a bookcase full of random stuff, and a huge cabinet that looks like kitchen cabinets(upper and lower) full of random #######. The table has three pretty big boxes on it that aren't the cleanest things I've ever seen. There is no way I could pick them up without resting them against myself. There is no telling what is in the "kitchen" cabinets. I haven't looked but I know from my supervisor telling me they are crammed full to the point of not getting anything else in them. Then the bookshelf has several boxes on it too. I'm just really picky about my clothes. I can't afford really nice clothes that often anyway and I don't want to ruin the ones I have. The whole taking off of my shoes would work except the boss here has a foot issue. She will not under any circumstances let you remove your shoes. If I start cleaning I'll have to wear my shoes. The only problem with that is they hurt my feet anyway much less if I'm standing on them for any length of time. I'm an admin assistant which doesn't really require me to be on my feet that often so I wasn't worried about wearing these shoes today. Maybe I'll just suggest to them that I'll come dressed appropriately tomorrow and will do it then.

Yeah, suggest doing it tomorrow. I wear skirtsuits and heels every day at work, but since I always walk to work, I have a pair of ballerina pums in my purse, so I got comfy shoes to walk the distance
