I thought this was too cute!

post-37934-1217363286_thumb.jpg

Intimacy, like charity, begins at home. If we cannot be intimate with ourselves, we have no way to bring to intimacy with another person.

Intimacy with ourselves takes time. We need time for rest, time for walks, time for quiet, and time to tune into to ourselves. We cannot completely fill up our lives with activities and become intimate with ourselves. Nor can we just sit quietly indefinitely and become intimate with ourselves. We have to have the time and energy to be our lives and to do our live in order to establish and intimate relationship with ourselves.

Surprisingly, as we become intimate with ourselves, we discover our connection with others

Intimacy....In/to/me/see...

Y'all today my mom gave me her seal of approval on D, i was like the WTH? normally my mother has something to say about everything  but she sees that D makes me happy, and she feels like he is a good man. I am taking her to JA in february to meet him in person( lawd, that will probably be another whole thread in itself, but my mom is fast, she will be over there flirting). I was kind of shocked, when she gave her spiel, basically she told me that nothing in life is guaranteed, that she hoped D was on the up and up and not on some BS, and that even if it wound up being a mistake, that i was allowed to make that mistake and to just let God lead me... and with that im going to have me a SIP of appleton, because tomorrow she will be talking about how illegal immigrants are going to take all of the healthcare benefits from senior citizens or something along those lines.

Momma's you gotta love em!

Sounds like my mom too FOR REAL!!

Girl I know that has to feel good, I mean of course u would go on w/ your life even if she didn't approve, but having mama on your side is a big relief..Big ups to "mama honey"!!

Wakey, Make sure they take the brown envelope from him and take him to secondary interview. They just let Andre pass through. He comes walking to where I was all smiles....with the dang envelope in his hand. I had to throw a fit with the security guard to get him to let us go back and give it to them. That is a very important thing.

Oh, and tell him no machette in his carryon!

Really..he was able to get buy with out giving them the envelope. That is crazy. I will be sure to tell him.

No machette's allowed

Yes. And, then, they had the nerve to tell me we couldn't come back into the immigration area. I was so mad. It finally came down to the supervisor asking who let him through and then that guy getting in trouble.

I shudder to think what would've happened at AOS time if they hadn't done the processing. And, that was Miami....you would think they see enough immigrants every single day to have that shyt down by now.

that is scary...and absentminded me would have skipped my happy rass right out of the airport w/ my sweetie on my arm never even paying attention..

I figured Thursday we would go for SSN and marriage license. From what I've read it takes 30 days in Ga to get it back. Of course the rest will be put in order for sho!

Only my siter has met him. My brother talked to him on the phone and so have most of my close friends. I'm nervous about mama she doesn't approve of anyone. Dwayne said he will win her over though!

You can't go for his SS for at least a week or so. He won't be on the system yet.

You can apply for his SSN as soon as he gets here. However, they will need to verify w/USCIS that he is here on a K1 and eligible for an SSN. I urge everyone to go ASAP cause to wait a week for them to get in the system only to wait three-four more weeks for the card is annoying.

This way you are pushing the SSA to check the system periodically instead of waiting for the system to push through his data whenever it feels. I took Ken the day after he arrived and they processed it. They just told us they would have to verify his status w/ USCIS. He got his SSN 2 weeks later.

Bless,

Gill

Question 4 anyone who has gone to the Carnival in NY: Are the events like the Steel Band Panorama, Dimanche Gras, and Gal Farm that I see posted on the wiadc website free to the public? I know there are events and concerts that you have 2 pay for, but the website doesn't say what (if any) of the events are free. Just wanna know how to budget my money for this trip. Also, will anyone up here be staying in NJ at that time?

Hi Mrs. Palmer...you can check out these links for ideas. Also checkout Brooklyn museum for activities. They usually have steel plan drumming there and other places in Brooklyn. Try to google Brooklyn and labor day or carnival activities and see what you get. Enjoy your stay in NYC!!!! Have fun and be careful.

Y'all must be reading my mind today, i was just talking to my friend about this same subject earlier. I really have my heart on getting married in JA, but of course with the visa process, since we are planning on doing the K1 that cant happen. We have discussed having a NONLEGAL ceremony on the beach in May( which is what i want, i want to have my friends fly down to be there) and then just going the justice of the peace route when he actually gets here. I have heard others mention that you have to be careful with the nonlegal ceremony route( im not sure why) im thinking that if you showed pictures( that the Embassy, may think it is a legal marriage and deny yoU????? Im just grasping at straws here) Can anyone clarify for me? ( i mean obviously, i wouldnt be stupid enough to present those photos at my interview, so im just wondering.

You can still get married in JA even when file a K1. Upon visa Approval, You can travel down to JA, have your wedding and then travel back to the US together. Many people do that. There is a girl on the Sub-Saharan forum who filed a K1 and is in Ghana right now preparing for her wedding in a few days. If you have anyone in JA that can help you with the planning, you can start collecting all the materials you need. It is very possible! I say go for your dream wedding

Hey Asante,

I thought u have to get married in the US

Hi Hotlegz,

Nope, not at all! I know several people who have gone or are planning to go back to their SO's country to get married. It's usually cheaper and you can have a more lavish wedding.

Just as long as your SO is approved for his fiance visa, you are free to marry in his home country or here. So you do have options.

A dat mi a seh Kimmy. Now, if what she's saying is you get married in Jamaica after the interview (will) USCIS know about it. That I don't know. I say, have a party like we did. It was beautiful. I would not change a thing about the way our immigration process went.

Hey Ladies, that is kind of what i am planning, we will get married officially in the states in front of a JP, but im kind of planning a commitment type ceremony, where his family can be present and a few of my friends and family. I can do it on the beach, and still feel like i had something special.

USCIS can be made aware of it. it is not illegal. I was even planning at one point to marry in JA. If you need a second opinion, you can post the question in a new thread in order to get other VJ member's opinions and experience.

It will only take a second of your time and people are really quick to respond.

Good luck! :star:
