ok, so i have a semi dilemma. I am taking two of my friends with me to JA in october, one is like my sister and i want her to meet D. The only problem is this will be there first time to JA, and they will expect me and D to entertain them, which i wouldnt mind doing, but i am only going to spend time with him. During the day, he will be at work and we can find stuff to do, in the evening well that is a different story  .. I dont want to leave them hanging, but at the same time, you know how Ochi is, there is a party going on all the time, and i dont know if it is fair of me to leave it up to them to figure it out on there own, being as they are first timers. Any suggestions?

I say dont bring them, or let them know your intentions straight up. Its not fair to bring them to another country for the first time and leave them to explore on their own if they are looking to explore it with you and for you to help them out. So either tell them to take a trip by themselves...its not that hard, or tell them your expectations of how it will go down at night. This is the fastest way to lose friends...ditching them for your man when you said you wanted to hang with them.

My family is always talking about going down with me. I never make any plans for them to come along, cause if they really wanted to they would be on it and find their tickets and everything. I know that if they came with me they would be way to dependent on me and right now, my attention is all for my husband when I am there. I mean hell I see like 3 times a year. So maybe after he is here with me and we go back I will worry about bringing my fam. Otherwise if they do come with me now i let them know straight up they will be on their own for a lot of the trip.

You know what Lita, the more i think about it, i agree with you, but one friend is going thru a divorce and the other is having some major financial issues, so for the both of them, this is one of those needed vacations. They already know that i am there for D, but the more i think about it, i can foresee issues. I dont want me and D to be the designated tour guides, i have been telling them to start picking and planning excursions now so that way they arent too reliant on me, but like i said the evening is going to be a different story. WHen i was there in July, me and D would get out late in the evenings  we ate dinner late and if we partied, we partied late. Maybe i can get D, to have his brothers come and show them around...hopefully no one will issue any marriage proposals...LOL

Honey --

I went down in April for my birthday and took 3 of my closest friends/cousins. AW and I entertained them and had a great time. The key was that I split my trip into two basically. Iwas on the island for 10 days -- my friends were there for the first 5 days and then I spent the last 5 days there with just me and AW at his house in the country. When my friends were there AW and I had no problem with hanging out with them and we went out every night. We had our privacy though -- they stayed in one cottage and AW and I were in the other.

It was actually a really good trip -- AW got to experience my friends and the craziness that we bring with us wherever we go, and they got to met AW (they all love him now). I actually treasured that trip because since AW can't come to the states to visit me it was like I brought a piece of my home to visit him. Now when I talk about my friends he knows who I'm talking about and he often asks about them and how they are doing -- he heard so much about their private lives on that trip that he feels as if he is one of the girls.

So it could actually work, if you plan it strategically and do spend some time with your girls and your man at the same time. And I bet you after a few days in JA they may be cool with going out by themselves leaving you and D an evening to yourself. The last night I was exhausted and my girls wanted to go out since it was there last night on the island. They went to Alfred's had a good ole time and me and AW went back to the hotel to chill.

HTH.

Y'all must be reading my mind today, i was just talking to my friend about this same subject earlier. I really have my heart on getting married in JA, but of course with the visa process, since we are planning on doing the K1 that cant happen. We have discussed having a NONLEGAL ceremony on the beach in May( which is what i want, i want to have my friends fly down to be there) and then just going the justice of the peace route when he actually gets here. I have heard others mention that you have to be careful with the nonlegal ceremony route( im not sure why) im thinking that if you showed pictures( that the Embassy, may think it is a legal marriage and deny yoU????? Im just grasping at straws here) Can anyone clarify for me? ( i mean obviously, i wouldnt be stupid enough to present those photos at my interview, so im just wondering.

Honey I think you are reading MY mind!!

AW and I had the same convo when I was there this month. I want to get married in JA so bad and we talked about doing a nonlegal ceremony a few months after the interview. That would require us to be apart of little while longer after approval, but would give AW some time to handle loose ends with his family before coming to the states and me enough time to plan a wedding. We'll see what happens -- as you know I change my mind often

Hey guys. My take on this marrying after the K-1 interview is not such a good idea. You have to be single when the visa is activated and if you marry before your SO enters the US the purpose of the K-1 is voided. "You have to marry in the US".

Just my humble opinion
