 Y'all are crazy. I need some of those songs on my ipod. I recently took Damien to a caberet (sp) and it was all over when the old school go go came on.....I danced 10 pounds off.....Damien was looking like

sjb --

Girl, me and my girlfriends tried to explain go-go to my SO when I was down there for my birthday in April. He looked at us like we had 3-heads.

Alright ladies, logging off to go talk to AW. He's mad because I had to get off the phone with him abruptly. LL Cool J came on "So You Think You can Dance" and I needed uninterrupted time to take in all that man has to offer.

Have a good night.

Y'all are funny. The closest we got to go go over here in the midwest was " doing the butt"...LOL

"Doing the butt... owwww, sexy, sexy!"

EU was the bomb. I used to see the lead singer out all the time when I was in high school -- especially at the Rivertown midnight movies and the Mr. Sam's Car Wash. All the DC/MD folks should remember those where the places to hang out. Looking back on it now, I can't believe we used to hang out at the car wash

Y'all are taking me down memory lane.

We heard "Taste of Your Love" by Suga Bear last night...first go-go slow song. Only in the Nation's Capitol....

Hey, I lived down the street from the lead singer, we used to have block parties every Friday night. Girl, doing the butt was the rage. The block parties were off the chain. Also, the outdoor events that were held durning the summer in DC, with Earth, Wind and Fire.

Damien and my daughter hates go-go music....especially my theme song "My fatty...look at my fatty".

Damien worked at a local club when he got first here. He had laughing to tears when he danced to go-go music. They played it all night so he had to choice but to listen to it.

Unruly:

Girl, I remember the big bamboo earrings (smashed) and MCM or HCL bags, guess jeans, rider boots and hanging at Crystals, Triples or the Black Hole. Oh, and Sam's car wash.. That was my hang-out for real. I use to get my hair done in that shopping center. I grew up by Iverson Mall, so that was my hang-out to.

Sugar Bear use to come in the salon all the time and once asked me for my number. Now that I think about it, I was like 14 or 15. I remember he came and picked me up from the salon to hang out with him. He had on a USED Jean outfit. He lived in the apts on Brinkley Road. Those were the days.

Smashed bamboo earrings, yess!!!! We just knew we were hot! Remember the jewelry store in Georgetown that you could go to trade in your earings and rope chains and two-finger rings. That place used to be a mad house on Saturday afternoons.

Ok, I'm going to dust off my neon orange Sergio Techini nylon sweatsuit and see if I can wear that to work tomorrow with my Reebok classics and drop socks.... y'all think I can get away with that?:no:

Those were the days!

Gil -- loving your avatar!!!!! Is that from his speech in Germany this week. I couldn't believe how many people were there to see him. This really should tell all the haters that he can handle diplomatic matters far better than what we've been dealing with for the past 8 years. He so has to be our next president!

Thanks Chica...it is from his German speech! I saw that and got goose bumps...they said over 250,000 people came to hear him speak! And of course McCain was hating on it!

It's amazing the effect he has upon people. My Godsister in England is working for the London- Obama 08 Campaign...I'm like you know your not even a U.S. Citizen and can't vote! She knows but wants to spread the word to Americans in UK that this is what the world needs now! And to get there absentee ballots in as early as possible!

Bless,

Gill

Did anyone watch CNN's "Black in America" series. My unmarried girlfriends were like..."I am going to slit my wrists!" They said 40% of African-American women will not marry in their lifetimes, due to the huge amount of African-American men in prison!

One of them said that I had the right idea by importing my man!:lol::lol: I never thought about it like that! So, ok we go through HELL with USCIS, but look at what we get! :luv:

Sooooooo..it looks like everytime I post anything any this forum the "close group of friends" ignore me. I think people either gel or they don't and for what ever reason I'm not in the jello mold.

I joined this site because I thought we all had something in common, loving a man or woman in Jamaica, and my sister Jawi told me everyone was cool people to lean on while I was going through the journey. In the beginning that was the case and now umm not so much.

I will continue to jump on the site for research purposes. I just wanted you to know if you see me lurking.

I thank everyone that has helped me with interview and paperwork details up to this point.

I pray for everyone's success that is going through and awaiting your interviews.

Take care Wakey!

WAKEY, I hope you have your PATWAH dictionary near you..

Morning everyone, I'm sorry for going off and stormimg out of the room like that. I may be very sensitive right now because I'm ready for Dwayne to be here and it's really rough financially for us right now. I think I transferred these feelings to you guys and that's not right.

In defense of my post, I was beginning to see that I would respond to a subject that everyone was discussing and responses back would addressed to the names before or after mine. It wasn't several pages back in the thread but right up front. However, I should have handled it better. Mi sorry fi offend anybadi. Dem hormones making me one evil Bi$%%.

TAKE ME BACK!!!! I've missed all of you guys :crying::wacko::blink::blush:

Intimacy, like charity, begins at home. If we cannot be intimate with ourselves, we have no way to bring to intimacy with another person.

Intimacy with ourselves takes time. We need time for rest, time for walks, time for quiet, and time to tune into to ourselves. We cannot completely fill up our lives with activities and become intimate with ourselves. Nor can we just sit quietly indefinitely and become intimate with ourselves. We have to have the time and energy to be our lives and to do our live in order to establish and intimate relationship with ourselves.

Surprisingly, as we become intimate with ourselves, we discover our connection with others
