I need some help! I am sure VJ Guides can answer my questions but I keep looking and just don't understand..... hoping any of you could give me answers or advice.

Louis can apply for SS# now... but he cannot work with it right? So really what is the point?

After we get married I apply for AOS... what about EAD? What and how do I do that?

I am so frustrated this is all like ALgebra to me!!?? UGH!

Thanks

Cat

For us, Andre had to be work authorized to apply for his SSN. It didn't happen till he got his green card.

You apply for the EAD, AP, and AOS all at the same time with the one fee. Just make sure to include the evidence for each seperately as they process them seperately. Of course, none of this can be done till you marry. Cart before the horse.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Thanks JG! I think the only reason for Louis' to get SS# now is to get his driver's License. They JUST (june 1st) past a law here that you need to have ss# to get a Maine DL.

Since mi done pack areadi...what's up Honey; if im no wah go...wait deh...look if he don't want to go i don't know what to tell him...but don't make him make you crazy in the process. I"m going home tomorrow and wouldn't you know it Marcel has the flu...GREAT! He's never been sick his mom said. He went to the mountains in Mandaville with his friends call to tell me it cold, next thing he sick. I tell you men can be baies sometimes. I know if he rinse his mouth out with white rum it will help with the pain, but only temporary (he should know that)...most Jamaicans do. In all, I hope he gets better, tootaches are no joke and can lead to bigger things and trust me he don't want that. My co-worker in the hospital now with an heart infection, because he have yuck mout. So, try not to stress too much.

You think the cold causes the flu?? Anthony tries to tell me that blasted thing all the time - the night cold/dew will make him sick. If so, all of us in "cold country" would have it 6-8 months out of the year!! Where's Claire to give us the medical low-down on it???

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I am here, my girl. As you mentioned the cold air does not make you ill. It actually some type of virus in the air that make you ill and depending on your immunity, it can vary how it affects you. Handwashing is also very important and many people take this little deed for granted not realizing how important it is. Forgive me, this is one of my pet projects at work and people tells me I am paranoid but I have not been sick in so long, I can't remember.

Hola Fam,

Lawny, my darling...I am wishing you nothing but the best on your interview...I KNOW WILL GUYS WILL GET THROUGH!!! Sending positive vibes your way...You have done your homework and leg work...now sit back relax and let the good Lord guide you through this! Don't let ANYONE at the Embassy shake you...just brush them off!!!

Honey, Baby Girl...you need to ask your SO if he had the time to take his son why doesn't he have the time to take himself? What will his son do without a Father if his tooth is abcessed and more serious than he thinks. Can I tell you a few weeks ago I had a boil in my ears...Ken insisted upon popping it...then it came back the week before my wedding even bigger and more painful!

I kept telling myself I;ll deal with it after the wedding. The next day my youngest son, Gavin fell down and kept complaining about his hip. I immediately found the time to take him to the doctor. When we got to the Dr. Gavin tell her..."I'm fine...I need you to look in my Mommy's ear!" Thank G-d my son had more sense than I did. His pediatrician immediately called the her friend an ENT and told me to go to his office NOW!! He will see you as soon as you get there...Gillian this is very serious!!

I went and low and behold the boil had turn into and abcess and was slowly leaking into my ear canal and blood stream. The ENT told me I would probably have been hospitalized in very serious critical condition if I would have waited until after my wedding!!!

I know long story short...sometimes we as parent are so concerned with taking care of our children we forget to take care of ourselves!!!

One days pay will NOT kill him or his child compared to NO MORE DAYS PAY if something serious happens.

I hope he feels better soon. He's in my prayers for a speedy resolution!

Blessed,

Gill

I feel ya girl.. i can count on one hand the amount of times I have went to the hospital beside annuals of course.. I just try to endure, but my kids are a different story.. I will pop some vitamin c in a minute.. born and raised in TX, so my grand mother didn't have many home remedies except for LAXATIVE!! Take a laxative when u got a bad cough, take a laxative if u body ache..Guys she would look at u sometimes and be like "You look weary, you need a laxative" We were the most regular girls in TX i am sure!!!!!!!!!! :help::no::lol:

Irie make sure its possible to get the SSN now.. I work for SSA and although I don't handle that workload I know there are VERY few instances that u can get a SSN without immigration authorizing u to work first..

Has anyone had experience or know anyone that has used the free health care that is supposedly available?

I have been having this exact debate with DJ lately, because he's been sick. He will never ask me for anything, and gets mad at me when I do things - He needs to go to the doctor, and keeps telling me he will go when he has enough money - He said that he doesn't want to go and sit there for hours and wait. In my mind, not a good enough reason - I have had my days of having to use the clinics / Planned Parenthood / whatever because I had no insurance and couldn't get there. It's frustrating to wait, but better to go sit there and wait than it is to not be seen by a doctor and get treated.

Now you all are making me feel guilty that I should send him money to go!

I'm sorry; but if there is indeed free medical care available to him, he better be sitting there waiting for it. No, do not send him money in this case.

Honey, it really sounds like he needs to go see a dentist. If it's that bad, it could be abscesed. He'll be in for real problems if that is the case.

You know, I agree with just about everything that has been said already...you know what you can & can't do in regards to helping your SO out, and you also know if your SO is capable of working and doing it on his own, or if he's just sitting and waiting for you to do it for him, regardless of whether or not he can do it for himself. My husband and I were just talking about this whole "free health care" issue night before last. He explained to me (and this is where he is in St. Ann's Bay,--not sure about other places on the island) that while the clinic visits are free, what the doctors have done to make money is to send them to private pharmacists were they have jacked the prices of medications up tremendously. My husband just had to go to the doctor the other week, and he was telling me that the cost of medications has gone up tremendously in the last several months, so either way, you're still going to be paying money out of your a$$ to actually treat whatever is going on with your SO.

Irie - did he get the work authorization stamp in his passport when he cleared immigration? I believe he needs that in order to get his SSN now. Otherwise you have to wait until you file AOS.

JG- How are you doing over is St. Louis? I was watching the CBS Early show this morning and they were talking about the flood waters rising near/at the arch. They said that you guys might have some problems later this week...what's it looking like over there? You need to be safe girlie and keep us posted. I can't believe that these massive floods are occurring again...Thankfully this time, while there is a monumental amount of damage to land, crops, homes, etc., there is a lot less loss of life than the Katrina disaster.

Hey Mrs P. i just talked to him, the advil has kicked in and he is feeling better, somewhat...he said he is going to work today( this is where im cursing *&^%#!, ) he also is in the st anne's bay area. He said he made an appt for Monday. Im like so what are you going to do tonite when your face is on fire again, cuz from my experience teeth tend to bother you more at night and he said i will keep taking advil. Im like hard head ### man!!!!! okay, im done. Then he said i just dont like to go to dentists and doctors, unless i absolutely have to. I can understand him in a way as i have extreme anxiety about going to the dentist, but sheesh!!! he say baby no worry, it is giving mi ease right now!!! and i said well then ease your butt on to the docter...LOL... anyway, i am going to wait till monday and see how much his script is and then i will send him money to pay for it. No he didn't get the stamp. I really won't have to go far to try for the SS#. From what I read he can get it now so if we get down to the office and can't - no biggie.

It just seems like the hard stuff is just beginning when it comes to paperwork. I will just need to take it 1 step at a time.

We only waited 10 busines days before he applied for his SSN card. Had to wait to get in the system.

Not sure if anything has changed.
