Good evening ladies...

Tierra met Louis when I did. When Louis would come to my apartment and hang out we spent the evenings talking but we made sure Tierra was alseep before he came over. We would sit on the balcony for hours! Then a few weeks later we all started hanging out together. She LOVES Louis. Actually said more than me .. but only cause "I am old and Louis is new"... Tierra had never met a boyfriend of mine before. I was lucky and things fell into place with Louis. Louis also took being in her life very seriously. He knew if he was going to hang with both of us he better be committed.

Tierra's father didnt want me to take her to St Lucia either.. but the judge busted him and realized his jealousy. She said it would be a wonderful experience for Tierra and she new I wasn't trying to steal her from him... mind you Tierra wasn't having any visitation with him at the time and he never paid me a dime. (I can actually count the $$ he has given me on my fingers).

.... my experience

I have a younger daughter too.. she is like a firecracker..She NEVER meets a stranger and gets along w/ EVERYBODY.. I too thought it a good idea only to introduce my girls to men that would be for the most part long term fixtures in their lives..

Mi cyaan even tink bout what di price fi gas will be in a month or two. Unfortunately I live in NC and there isn't much by way of public transportation except for the bus--which I would ride except the nature of my job won't allow it (I do a lot of home visits and going to various places in the community as a case manager). That's one thing I miss about living in the MD/DC/VA area...I used to loooove taking the metro! I hope to be able to move next summer to ATL, and I know their transit system is better.

On a lighter note--I leave for Negril in a week!! I can't wait to see my wonderful husband!!:dance::dance:

Good afternoon all!!

I feel u all on the gas woes.. we haven't reached $4 yet, but it will be there before we know it here in Dallas. But, gotta do what I gotta do. I keep hearing them mention this 4 day week for govt workers, but I know I will find SOMEWHERE to go that 5th day so I might as well stick w/ my 8 hour days..

My friends are coming back from their mobay/negril trip (they always rent a car and head to either ochi or negril) I couldn't go this year but can't wait to hear about all their escapades.

I know most of u ladies are yaadies from bawn, but for any others..How did ur children feel about u having a SO from Jamaica?? my daugh is quite rigid. she is not very open to things and doesnt like for her boat to be rocked.. It doesnt help that she is a DADDY's girl and he is very open about his dislike for JA.. I would like to think that whatever made me happy would make her happy HOWEVER, I have been a parent long enough to know that is not gonna be true in our case.. Now my youngest would be cool, but my oldest?? not so much LOL. any experiences???

YUH TELL THE RAAS PICKNEY GYAL TO STOP TWIST UP SHE NOSE!! Just kidding, I know what you mean though. Is she a teen? Its like teens have the mentality of an 80 year old sometime "cyaan rock dem boat, cyaan deal wit change, don't like nothing dem kno nothin about"...cho! I think its gonna have to be a work in progress. But she first will need to learn a lesson about diversity and realize that the WORLD is not just her immediate surroundings, but a vast diverse land with many many people...all of who God made and loves. She probably just needs a little more exposure to things that are not in her comfort zone...to see the way others live and then that could give her some perspespective as to how small her "world" really is. :star:

LOL.. nuh Lita yuh dead on bout dis gyal ere.. She got it honest cuz I was the same wey growing up, so u are right.. its important that I expose her to different things. Something as lil as dinner is a fight with this one, "i don't like peppers..are these onions..this don't look right" LOL CHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She is 10, but believe me 10 is the new 16.. I am only 29, but I feel like I am 50 around her, Nothing I say or do is acceptable.

Jomo, tanks for di input. I hope she warms up like your lil girl did.. when the time comes LOL

I know how it is. I don't have kids, but got 3 younger sisters, and 3 nieces...bwoy mi tell yuh seh dem ave war pon dem madda and fadda, and I'm always the one they try fe run tuh. Shessh!!

Man, i hear this all the time...bout the father causing all these issues after he wasn't even really around. I told my youneger sis who's due this month to NOT let the father put his name on the BC. You think thats a good idea? The boy is borderline trife so I am trying to set her up best way I can. Her baby is taking HER name, not the fathers and if she want child support I told her to just have him do a DNA test, but as far as the BC....keep his name off of it.

My daughter sounds like your baby girl. She didn't meet my husband until he came here almost 4 years ago. They talked and wrote to each other the year we dated. I never introducted her to any of my boyfriends or lived in a man so surprisely the adjustment has been good. She's almost 16 so she was 12 years old.

My daughter's father is in her life but trust me, he would not win "father of the year" award so I haven't had any problems. He just stopped speaking to me....like I care

You know I dont know what the "right advice" would be on that one but it would have made my life a whole lot easier. Course I would have done exactly how I wanted if my life wasn't being threatened! Man I thank Him every day for Louis!!!

Thanks for the prayer Lawny, always appreciated!

Claire, I hope everything works out for you, as everyone has said the main step is getting him here and then letting him decide if living in the US is something he can manage but he should also keep in mind that there will be an adjustment process. Hang in there (F)

Soooo... :ot: just venting really quick.. I was hoping to have an approval by the time I went down to see my fiancee this week but why oh why has VSC decided to put the brakes on those speedy K1 approvals of just a few months ago.. Figures that by the time I applied they would slow down  I know our wait is not as long as those from CSC or those with other types of visas but still!! I'm pushing up against my own deadline, everytime I see that the Kingston interviews are being pushed to the next month, I think now they are scheduling July or August?? I think Dion is not going to make it in time to be with me during childbirth :crying:

VSC, has put a hold on K1's because the CR1's are behind from July 2007. So your timeline is still pretty early. Its all luck with when you get approved cause it depends on the wave of visas that your service center is working on. They rotate the visa types so when you see a slow down in one type there's an increase in the others. You seem to be comng into the K1 slowdown. I know Shrewdie has been waiting over 200 days for NOA2 from VSC with her CR1. I know it must be stressing you though with the baby, but I'm sure you'll get an interview in time. It doesnt take much time after NOA2 for a K1 visa so your still in good timing.

yeah..hang in there girl. he will be here. I speak it (and God hears)..thats the real power. hahahaha

I hate to say this, but I agree. Unless you're married. I have soooooo many friends who can't take their kids to Jamaica with them, because the father put up a stink and they have a right, because their name is on the birth certificate. My cousin couldn't get a passport for her daugther to travel to Jamaica to go to my aunt's wedding this month because of her ex. He won't fill out the paperwork. Don't give a damn about taking care of the child, but as soon as they want to take them out of the country it's a big issue. I've never had any problems with Air Jamaica, but when I was going to Amersterdamn I was asked a lot of questions. I had to get out of the line and wait for my son's father to get back from the parking garage and tell the agent that "I have his permission to take my son out of the U.S." I don't mind. I've heard too many horror stories.

I just want to get along for the sake of my son, but my EX is becoming a BIG BOIL ON MY A$$. Everyday it's something new. It's hard for me to avoid him, because he's my son's father and he took it up on himself to make sure he goes to my mom's church. The last year of my life has been living HELL, but not compared to the first 10 years with him. All he keep saying to me is if I bring a next man around his son "WAR AGO START"...all mi seh is eeh eeh...mek war start. I'm tiyad of acting like a LADY all the time and getting no respect from him. I never argue with him in front of my son, I just walk away. And it breaks my heart when my son ask, why I don't talk to DADDY. Most times I just don't know what to say...other than, mommy don't feel well right now.

suggest she not put his name on it in the hospital, he can add it later on and she doesn't have to return the first certificate from the hospital, she can then use that for the passport.

Talking about gas. I have a minivan and I get pretty good gas mileage as long as I don't drive like a BAT out of HELL. I filled up yesterday just under $47.00 for midrange. The guy next to me was putting $5.00 (I thought I was reading it wrong). His ESCALADE tag ID (now ya'll can't laugh) "I KANDY". Now, why the hell would that man have that on his tag. My girlfriend was like now, where the hell is that going to take him. It seems like if he drove to the end of the gas station he would have ran out of gas.
