You know it's sad, but true how differently Jamaicans get treated at some of the resort...When we got married at the RIU in Ochi back in October my husband was getting SOOOO pissed because he felt like some at the front desk weren't responding to his requests...and when he would have me come and ask the same thing, then things got taken care of alot quicker...and then on our wedding day we provided 3 lists (1 for the security booth, 1 for the wedding coordinator, and 1 for the front desk) of our Jamaican guests which weren't many. Anywhoo, the coordinator had already talked to the people and whatnot, but they STILL refused to let our guests on the property, despite reading their names to the wedding coordinator over the phone!! I was pissed because some were actually in the wedding party (who had already had passes paid for them), and the others were of course coming just in time for the event...The wedding coordinator apologized profusely for the guards rude behavior, but I was just disgusted...My husband and I complained about the way residents were being treated, and she upgraded us to a King Suite---complete with a nice jacuzzi and beautiful view!!

Does anyone know what countries a Jamaican citizen can travel to without a travel visa? I think Cayman is one, but are there others?

Without a visa, Jamaican nationals can actually travel to many countries. Places where a Jamaican national may visit for an unlimited time without a visa would be: Antiga, Barbuda, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Belize, Botswana, Cyprus, Dominca, Fiji, Gambia, Great Britain, Grendada, Haiti, Honduras, Ireland, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Malta, Mauritius, Peru, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Surinam, Swaziland, Tanzania, Trinidad & Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Jamaicans may travel without a visa but are limited to no more than a 6 month visit to: Barbados.

Jamaicans may travel without a visa but are limited to no more than a 3 month visit to: Bermuda, Chile, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Israel, Liechtenstein, Norway, San Marino, South Korea, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey.

Jamaicans may travel without a visa but are limited to no more than a 1 month visit to: Argentina, Columbia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Hong Kong, Monaco, Papua New Guinea, Uruguay.

Jamaicans may travel without a visa but are limited to no more than a 2 week visit to: Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, St. Maarten.

That is NOT correct....

Follow this link, to the JA visa webiste. This is printed by their government. Hope this is helpful.

This seems to apply to foreign nationals who are trying to enter into Jamaica, and doesn't say what the requirements are for Jamaican nationals into other countries (as best I can tell...but I prolly missed something). What I did was just type in the name of the country that I wanted to visit with my husband and typed in "entry requirements), and it will usually tell you who can and cannot be admitted into their country without a visa...and for the record...Jamaicans DO need a visa to enter the Caymans

Yah.....I had to really scour the net to find what I did find. The JA website seemed useless to me.

Thanks, everyone for the info. I've also left an email for the Jamaican embassy to see if they have an updated list. I'll let you know what I find out.

Mrs. P...that's what I'm talking about. That was the type of room I was given also, since they didn't have our room ready. It's insulting. I'm paying just like the other guest, so don't treat me any differently. Always heard remarks made after my back was turned...then they would get cussed out in PATWAH! All I would hear is, ma'am, please calm down there's no need for that let's go somewhere else and talk...mi like..chat bout wah..seh wah u afi seh rite eerrrrr mi wah everi badi fi hear. Yea man...mi kind a mad and crazy all in one...but mi believe in fairness...don't treat me differently because you A$$'SUME I'm a LOCAL.

Why treat anyone at all differently? We are talking about paying guests....whether for the day, the night, the week.....and they are in the service industry. Shouldn't they just treat everyone the same?

It makes me so mad.

They should, but they don't. Once at Half Moon, Marcel went for a walk and the security guard was following him around. He said he had the guard walking all over the place. At times he started to jog and the guard was walking faster and faster. Marcel decided to walk back to the hotel room and I met him in the hallway. He finally turned round and ask the guard if a look im a look him. Guard had nothing to say. Another EDIAT!

and that is exactly what I was thinking.. How do they KNOW u are native Jamaican?? Some of your examples, they haven't even heard u talk or anything.. I have been told I have been told I look Jamaican or African which I am neither, but I guess I might have some features that may look like I am, so although they shouldn't treat anyone the way they treated u, they certainly shouldn't based on an assumption. CRAZY!!!!!!!!! i don't blame u girl.. they need somebody to put them in their place for that rudeness.. brite self!!! LOL

Quana;

like I said they A$$'SUME... Check in is usually around 3pm. We got there at 3:30 was told room was ready...then told 5 mins later to give them a few minutes 4pm roles around no key...but I see people who came in after us were getting keys. So, my girlfriend goes to ask what's going on they told them that our room will be ready soon. I was like HELL NO :angry: I want to know how the HELL these people who came in after us and you have rooms for them. Either give me my KEY or give me ALLLLLL my money BACK. Supervisor walks up...oh, miss, I'm sorry, I thought you were sitting there waiting for someone...#######. We was just at the front desk.

Quana...mi just gald seh mi daddy built a house out there. I find myself at resorts mostly for weddings (almost 100% of the time) and sometimes just to kickback and get away from family and it hurts me to know that I'm a Jamaican and to stand in line and watch the front desk be rude to another Jamaica. It pisses me off. :angry: It's like the customer service changes like the flip of a light switch. Oh, let me not be proffessional since a one yardie.
