Hi ladies, hope you had a great weekend.

:ot: I am going down to Negril June 4-8 and my SO is booking our hotel. We were thinking of staying at Rondel Village cause I always thought it looked nice and its at a good location but I was wondering if anyone has ever stayed there??

He wanted to book a gardenside room but not only was the receptionist rude (according to him) but she said the garden side is under construction so only beachfront rooms are available. Has anyone heard of this?

Also can anyone recommend somewhere else in the middle of the beach with similar amenities and also local-friendly?

Thanks!

Hey Mommy --

Me and AW stayed at Rondel in January. It was OK, the rooms are big and clean, but the staff did leave a little to be desired. The location is great -- right in the heart of 7 mile. You may also want to check out Country Country -- just stayed there in April for my birthday celebration and had a blast. The staff is very accomodating and welcoming. Good luck and have fun!

Funny story about Rondell Village-- we were driving up to Negril after AW picked me up from the airport and he asked me to call the hotel since we were so late to make sure the were holding the room and also to ask about their location. So I called and we both spoke to the receptionist who gave AW directions on where the hotel was located in Negril. AW thanked the woman and we were on a merry way to Negril. When we get to the hotel we go to the front desk and a guy comes from the back to check us in -- he had the highest pitched and femine voice I've ever heard on a man. So the woman we thought we were talking to on the phone was actually a guy. The look on AW's face was priceless  -- he looked at me and walked out the front door shaking his head. You know how our Jamaican men can be about men acting feminine. Needless to say I had to check us in and deal with the front desk receptionist for our entire trip -- AW REFUSED to step foot in the recption area all weekend.

Girl,

Let me top that. Magaritaville in Mobay on Thursday night. My fiance and I went to celebrate his friend's birthday. We're at the bar waiting for our drinks, so this guy walks up to my fiance and says to him "how he's so nice and tall and good looking" mi nearli dead. I heard my fiance say, Wah the bbclatt and all I could do was KISS my fiance in order for him to not say anything....but it was too late, his friends were already cussing the guy and well, here comes security. I notice this guy as soon as I went upstairs, he was checking out all the males as they came up the steps. Seem that the guy and his friends were messing with people (MEN) and to avoid a confrontation they were told to go upstairs and chill out and well, I told my fiance and his friends, better we leave and go somewhere else. I'm glad we did, the guy and his friends approached another man that night and well it was not a good thing.

I can only imagine that situation didn't turn out so well. I tell AW when he gets to DC he's definitely going to get an eyeful.

Hi, don't worry he will adapt quite easily. When my husband was living here last year, he was living right next doors to a gay couple. At first he was uneasy about it, then we talked about it and I told him he has to accept the concept "to each it's own"........... After a while it didn't even fazed him, actually they start to speak(only in greetings). I was so proud of him.

As you know in this area, it's all around you and sometimes you don't even know. We don't make a big deal out of it.

And, does he tell people back in JA that he associates with anyone like that?

I don't think speaking to someone as a common curtsy is not the same as associating with them.

The one thing that attracted me to my husband is his values. Respect and Common Curtsy. I know this is a hot topic in JA, but I live with " to each it's own".

In my husband's mind, it is one and the same.

I believe my husband has respect and common courtesy as his values, as well. On this one issue, though, there seems to be more judgement from his friends and family in JA regarding any contact.

I bet you in JA, they may have friends who are gay(male and females). They may not know it, but if society dictates to you it is wrong, most people are not going to be open to it.

Look at how long before it became very open here in the USA.

My night just went to surreal.....a speeding car just hit the for sale sign of one neighbor's house and crashed into the tree on my neighbor (and cousins) front lawn. Then, they ran. Of course, I missed it all cause I was in the tub. I did manage to see all the police, CSI, and the two truck that parked on my lawn to tow it away.

Crazy!

Our crazy story....Damien's car broke down last Friday. It wouldn't start after he ran into a store. He was on his way to pick up my daughter from the train station. I was working late that night so I called AAA thinking the battery needed a jump. We finally had the car towed. Went out to dinner and Target...didn't get home until midnight. We had so many plans that weekend now we have to share a car  Walked in the house...no electricity. We've had power shortages for no reasons before so I didn't pay attention until I noticed two of neighbors had lights on. The electricity was closed so nothing we could do until 7 the next morning.

Meanwhile is Damien is pacing the floor then putting up boobie traps just in case someone decides to break in  He said he had a bad feeling something bad is going to happen. I'm like - boy, are you crazy...go to bed. Besides, what else could go wrong....

5:35 Saturday morning...someone is BANGING on our door. I'm thinking it better be Pepco (electric company). I'm half sleep when I opened the door...it's

the POLICE asking if I had an Impala. I said no but my neighbor's boyfriend drives one....I drive a Malibu. I was about to close the door when he said I traced the tags to this house and your car has been involved in an ACCIDENT. I said that's impossible because I parked my car right infront of our apartment...I saw my car is sitting on the grass. Someone hit it dead on...knocked it outta the parking spot into another car.

I ran upstairs to wake up Damien. He thought I was playing a trick on him...

Manya,

I don't know where i was when u posted this one but i'm soooo sorry about what happened to you and D. I know u were beyond pissed when u realized it was YOUR car after the night you just had too. I know how it feels when someone just destroys your car or your stuff......I'm sure we've all been there at one time or another, so i'll pray you get through this.

Check ur PM's and email...I'll link you.

T :)

Dear Heavenly Father;

Thank you for another blessed week. Lord we turn to you for comfort this week as many of us are dealing with our own struggles in life. Lord, I pray that you heal those that are ill or recovery...shower them with your strength. Lord, please watch over Tonisha (FUTURE HUSBAND) as he'll be here tomorrow. Please get him to the airport on time and deliver him safely to her arms at JFK...(I can just see her now hoping to give her man a big hug). Lord, please watch over those that are pregnant and those that are TRYING to get pregnant :innocent:. Lord, please push forward the approvals for those that are waiting (SHREW) is calling out to you as well as Sunny and Mommy 2 b. Lord for those who has mishaps last week in their lives, THANKS for protecting them and finally, thanks for bring Marla to her loving husband Jason. He has been patiently waiting for his beautiful wife and we can all feel the love he has for her. All these things I pray to you Dear God...in your son's precious and might name. AMEN...AMEN...AMEN.

Thanks!

Mommy, I stayed at Rondel Village last year and loved it. I booked it on hotwire for a very cheap price per night. The gardenside on across the street from the beach. It's right across the street from the Jungle nightclub. The restaurant is very expensive, so I wouldn't recommend it, but there's a place down the street called Cool Spot that have very very good JA food for a reasonable price. Check Hotwire...

Thanks for the info Sunny but Dion (my SO) ended up booking us at Coco La Palm instead. I've never stayed there either so hope its ok, I've read good reviews. I've definitely been to Cool Spot before and the food is good and inexpensive, probably will eat there again this trip.
