"The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy announces that the Walk-in Visa Reissuance service will not/not be open on Monday, May 12, pending...."

will not/not?

double negative?

I don't want to ruin my karma or anything by slamming them. The Embassy now has my petition.....however, how about a little proof reading?

Being a secretary for years, that was the first thing I noticed. Oh well. I'll tell them to correct it after I get my approval next month

Someone always has to ruin it for others.

Yes, JG... same thing I was saying to my aunt. When Marcel's friend was up there (when they first decided to do it)...he was outside waiting for someone else and he said the line was crazy and people would not line up in order. I can't imagine. I'm just thankful I have an afternoon appt. Everyone I know that had an afternoon appt. did not have to wait in line at all.

How hard is it to form a line?? Didn't we all learn that in grade school???? :bonk:

Ummmm.....hello.....it is Jamaica we are talking about. I still have to remind Andre that it is not polite to just barge up to the front of every line just cause he wants to.

We went to the movie theatre in Mo Bay one time and I flat out refused to push my way up to the front of the line. I said if you want to, go for it. I'll be right here after you get the tickets.

Same thing when we go to clubs. I'll stand in a line a patiently wait my turn, but Marcel is like, just walk up they won't say anything and they never do. Maybe it's because he was with me. I still think it's rude and we fuss about it sometimes. I told him do that here and he'll surely catch a beat down.

It's Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy

HEAR HEAR !!!

I just looked at my bank account and woo-hoo....a likkle surprise....my stimulus payment, but....it was only for $900.00 ?? I thought it was $900 for a couple and $300 for the child? I'm just a little confused about this ???

I'm now in the process of booking a trip for me and my son to go to Punta Cana next weekend

Bizarre, according to our paperwork, etc.... we should have received the $1200 (couple) and $300 for my son. I guess I'll call and see what's up ?!

It is supposed to be $1200 a couple and $300 per child. However, there are all kinds of rules as to why you get the amount you get.

I did just read this morning that we will have to say on our 2008 tax returns how much we got. If it wasn't the maximum amount allowed, they will adjust it and give us that in the form of a refund after filing that 2008 return.

Looking at the amount, it seems like Craig's wasn't included in yours....

That is what I was thinking.

Well, I went onto the Stimulus calculator ....while I was on hold with the IRS (25 min) ...and went through and it calculated to $900. I'm a little bummed because I thought it was going to be more, but then again.... being self employed and the tax part about being employed brought my calculations down. Oh well.

The IRS guy said that 99% of his calls are people complaining about the "free" money they've received.

Oh well, just hoping I get approved for the Punta Cana trip (free points I'm trying to use through one of my suppliers)....

You're right JG!! I remember my first experience in a little shop. The little guy behind the bars and everyone screaming at him what they what and how much is this --- I was shocked!! Where the heck is the laid back JA attitude then???? Wait your damyn turn - he'll get to us.

I read --somewhere-- that it's not really free, but actually a prebate on our tax refund next year.

I keep hearing about these free clinics to get vaccines in JA. Does anyone know of where one is near Mobay?

Thanks in advance.

Andre went to a clinic; but it was not free.

However, since April 1st, nearly all medical care in JA is supposed to be free. Tell Evan to make some calls and see.

I read on the IRS website that this is absolutely not true. It is FREE money (ha ha....nothing is free) in the sense that we do not have to take it against any future refund.

Marlita, all the public clinic should offer the vaccines for free. That was how Mike got his. He got the MMR, Tetanue and Varicella (which is not really necessary per Banbury. They also gave him the polio vaccine--this is for kids not adults. There is a list that is on the dept of State website that tells you what is required for immigrants by age. I typed in "immigrant vaccine requirements."
