Hey ladies!! Anyone up here live in ATL?

I'm so late, but I live in ATL

I live 1hr north of ATL

Hey, I wanted to ask you a question? I know you had trouble getting the visa at AirPack on time. Once AirPack recieved the visa how long does it take to get it. They are saying that marla's visa is approved and waiting to be printed

It was around the Easter holiday's. Our interview was March 11th. His visa got printed that Tuesday after Easter Monday. He got it in his hands on the next day I believe and made it his last day at work, wrapped up business on Thursday and flew in on Friday, March 28th. Everyone's didn't take that long though. His visa was stuck in administrative processing for forever!! Then after 2 weeks we applied for his SSN card.

Yes, to a point. First of all, he had to be able to support himself in JA and to take care of some expenses while I was there visiting. If he didn't have a job, I doubt I would've put up with it.

Then, I had to have the gut feeling that he would work here just as hard as he worked there. I knew he probably would not start out making the salary I would've liked; but that there was potential.

My husband found had job with decent starting pay, has moved up 4 raises in the last year and 4 months, has moved up one promotion, and is set for another raise in 4 months, along with a promotion soon after his training. He also carries his own health, dental, and eye insurance.

My husband has not disappointed me.

Very true JG!! You have to see the potential. Sometimes women date men that are plain an simple good for nothin. If you met and he wasn't doing much for himself...how can you expect him to all of a sudden become this head of household husband...its not gonna happen....at least not with alot of work. I know good and well that I could NOT date a man without a job...i don't care...aint gonna happen. I am used to good men in my life beit my g.father, father, brothers uncles, and there is just no way that I can date a man not meeting that criteria. He don't have to be pulling in big bucks or nothing, but he has to have that dirve to want to get out there and help support his family. As long as he has that we're all good.

Well said Lita! I totally agree with both you and JG! Look, HI wasn't paying Ken big bucks...But I saw my man wake up everymorning han tek em ras tuh wuk! One of the things that attracted me to him was his Ambition!! Bwoy, after being married to a man that thought the world owed him something & him looking for a reparation check from Uncle Sam for 8 years...I knew I could NEVER do that again! Even if he doesn't have it all...just the drive tuh bus ras and earn it all was good for me.

So far Ken has lived up to his words. He told me "Gill, when mi come hup...mi cyan't siddung fuh nuh 2-3 months...I NEED A JOB!!" I am very proud of my husband!! Considering the huge adjustments he has had to make in the last 5 weeks...he amazes me! I could give a Rat's batty bout what people want to say about Ken's working at a Restaurant! It's honest work and like Granny used to seh..."Hevery nickel mek a mukkle!" He said he wanted to come here to make my life easier...and he has!

Money comes and goes, and comes again...but a dyam good man that gets me...now that is priceless!

Have a bless-ed day ya'll :luv: ,

Gill

Morning everyone!

I found this info on adopting from Jamaica:

http://www.travel.state.gov/family/adoptio...ountry_404.html

I just saw that. and also, I looked under the guidlines on VJ for brining a son or daughter to the US. and brown- that 2 year rule is only necessary IF you are not the biological parent and are just trying to emigrate them here. I think maybe like in JG's case.

BUT it did say if it was the FATHER (or step-mother) makign the petition then you have to prove a relationship

Hey JG-

Have you heard anymore about the best way to adopt your nephew?

I still think the best way would be to get Andre to be the legal guardian in JA and then file the I-130..

but then I am almost afraid that you might run into complications with the EMbassy thinking that it is some ploy just to get the nephew to the U.S. and they may run into DNA testing...

hmm. I didnt think about that before.....

Im still trying to figure it out for you. I will ask around some more

No. Haven't really had time to look into it more yet.

I heard Andre asking his mother if she has all his papers in order. So, I guess we'll get copies of those soon and figure it out from there.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Thanks, guys for all the links. I just printed out a buch a stuff and now my head is spinning again.

Shrewdie.....Sean Paul is Andre's nephew. Since he is orphaned, Andre is his immediate family. I don't think the restrictions are going to be all that strong.

I mailed out cards I had made to my mom in the US and two MIL's in JA.

To those whose still have your mothers in your lives and alive, count your blessings. Mu won mother is decease and I truly miss here at times like this. That's probably why I get along with my mother-inlaw and his grandmother so well. I call them every morning, just like I used to do when my own mother was alive. I call just to say I love you, and have a great day. His grandmother cracks me up, she now says every morning she is listerning for my call.

Every morning, on my drive to work ...(my one hour in rush hour traffic drive), I call my husband to say good morning, then I call his mother. His grandmother gets up a 5 oclock am in the morning and start calling everyone to check on them. I told her today, I was going to start calling her first and cut out the middle man, because she already has the family report at 5:01 am. She wanted to know how I know she is up at 5:00 am calling, I told her the angels wake me up and says "she 's at it again" Call her and tell her she needs her rest.

My prayer for you today is that God's blessings and mercies are upon you on this day and everday. May you abide in God, as God abides in you.

Dance together with God, trusting God to lead and to guide you through each season of your life.

Roxie, both your posts are really touching. They brought tears to my eyes. I lost my mom to cancer years ago and know how you feel. Can I forward your poem to some lovely moms I know?

Thanks a bunch for this inspiration

Clarie,

Thanks for your thoughts, and yes please forward my poems to all those lovely moms you know. I know being a mom is the hardest job there is, but I wouldn't trade it for all the money in the world. That's a one of kind love. You can make mistakes, and they still love you.

I think you should be able to prove involvement in his life pretty easily. I was just trying to think of a situation where you would have to live with them for 2 years and your type of scenario was the only one I coudl think of..but with Andre's parents having custody of Sean Paul then it should be easier than that.

who knows...

Roxie;

When I had my son and after they gave him a bath and brought him to my room, I have no words, ABSOLUTELY no words to describe the feeling. I undressed him, took off everything, placed him in my nightgown and started to nurse him. My son has piercing black eyes and I'm telling you I was so lost in his EYES ... lost in LOVE, PEACE, TRANQUILITY...I was in awwww. All I could say before I started BAWLING out my eyes was GOD IS GOOD and thank you for blessing me with this beautiful child. He's 4 now and HARD-HEADED. Sometimes he'll come to me and say "MOMMY can I law on your breast" and of course, I say, yes and he'll say, love you mommy and give me a (nose kiss). I never knew what love really felt like until I had my son.

It was then, that I truly understood why my parents worried and stayed up late at night when I went out and why they were always saying to this or don't do that or why they worried everytime I went to the ER. They loved me and wanted the best in life for me for my siblings and I. My parents are not the hugging, saying I love you type, but I knew they loved us. My dad is my role model. He's CALM. Nothing upsets him at all and he lives on day at a time. My mom, well, she's the rebel and I have a lot of that in me too. It comes in handy at times.

To all the moms and moms to be I'm wishing you a wonderful Mother's Day.

Side note: Just frighten some of myu co-workers. I put 2 fish in the microwave to warm up and well, the head is still on the fish I guess people are not use to seeing that. She ask me if it was okay to eat it that way. You think they would be use to me by now. Wait until the see what I have for lunch....STEW CHICKEN FOOT!

********************************************************************************

....when it hurts to look back and you're scared to look ahead LOOK beside you and I'll be there.....

There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore... and who always will.

So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.

I looked over at baby Danny....looked for her hand and when I saw she still had both handsI was relieved. Couldn't eat the chicken foot. My hubby still laugh about this.
