I'm glad the HI has been bought out. I think the Jamaica Grande has really improved since the change of management and I hope the same will happen at the HI....What's more, I think it's fantastic that it's back in JAMAICAN hands...I HATED the way I saw some of the local Jamaican visitors to the hotel being treated....

my sister is going to get married there in Aug. at jamaica grande and kids up to age 15 are free, can't wait to go. l love the food at jamaica grande. i met one of the owners when I got locked out of my room coming home from Amnesia at 4am. I only stayed at holiday inn once. the beach was great, but I can't say I liked the food.

Ohhhhhhhhh JENGS I'm going tell. Wah u a do a come fram nightclub so late. I don't care for the food at Jamaican Grande. My other problem (I didn't like how they treated the locals). I found it very insulting and digusting and I complained. I understand security is there to protect the guest and to secure the grounds, but to hear someone say "hey bway, wah u a do ovah yah" is completly out of line. My cousin's wristband was clearly in site. He claimed he didn't see it. And they've improved in service. When my cousin was married there in 2007, it them 3 hours to check in 8 people. They overbooked the hotel, our reservation was made almost 6 months in advance so we didn't want to here (*$&.

that was the only night, we stayed in Ochi it was our first night in j.a., they were renovationg back then and it was just horrible, so my friends complained and we ended up in Montego Bay in a suite. The food at the RIU to me left a lot to be desired, not enough seasoning, or maybe because I was preggo when we stayed at RIU and couldn't eat anything spicy.

three hours to check in???? I would have went off??

Girl, we did go off. My cousin was also 4 months pregnant at the time and it was so HOT! We were fanning her and all they kept saying is they have a few emergencies on the property and they'll get to us. The girl at the desk, at the time, kept say ..."bway mi caan tek we people dem" over and over again. I told her to speak a little louder so mi can hear wah u a seh!

*****GOOD NEWS*****

:dance:Ken got a job!:dance: He is going to be working at a Jamaican/Chinese Restaurant/Night Club! Doing what he does...being a Jack of all trades!!! :D My Dad knows the owner and told him to bring Ken down last night for an 11:00pm interview  ...I was like pure foolishness that! But, Ken came back like... :D . He said "Baby Gurl, mi mash hup deh hinterview! Mi tell deh ooman nuf tings mi see fuh fix and clean up inna dis place!" He gave his resume & letters of recommendation! Then he started pointing out things to her and how he could fix it or make it better... she was like..."YOU'RE HIRED!!! Come back tomorrow at 9AM!!!" ;)

Plus because he is legal she started him off at a DYAM good rate and told him she will increase it if he saves her $$ on hiring outside people to fix things!! She also told him if he does a good job she will continue to allow him to work there until he gets his green card!! :D THANK GOD!!! GOD IS GOOD!!! So I dropped him off this morning! He was so excited...I almost felt like I was dropping off one of my kids at school for the first time!

Thank you all for your prayers and blessings!

We sincerely appreciate it!

Have a happy Monday!

Gill

Gill, that is such great news!!! Is it at Nakisaki in LI? I just loved to go to that restaurant when I lived in NYC. The ambience in awesome. I was not too impressed with the one in Queens, so I had to take the jaunt to LI to enjoy the great food and atmosphere. The club is also off the chain and I love it too.

Not to get off topic, but tell Ken Congrats for me.

Yup...the very same! I guess there aren't too many Chinese-Jamaican Restaurants huh? He's at the one on Long Island about 5 minutes from where I work and right next door to Sam's Caribbean Market (he's in heaven)! I don't care for the one in Queens either!

Yeah...the club is still on and poppin...Richie Spice is coming in a few weeks, hopefully he can get us discounted tkts. to that!

Unfortunately, they didn't put money back into the place so it is a little run down now..hence how Ken's position became available!

I'll tell him you said 'Congrats'!

Bless,

Gill

I ran home to pick something up for a meeting later this afternoon. Well, what's in the mailbox - PACKET 4 ... address was wrong, but I guess the mailman figured it out. My fiance still don't have his. On the checklist it says I need to submit an I-864 (remember I was asking about this a few months back) because my girlfriend was told the same thing. What's up with that? Then it says I need to pay $355/US for the I-864 and $45 for the security surcharge...wah di rass. Then it said I can pay it to the NVC if I want to. Did anyone else get anyting like this? Like mi need anymore rass stress pon mi big head.

Ditto, is the club still upstairs? Congrats to Ken!!!!!!

Thanks Jengs..I need to PM you...sorry! Actually, I think they moved the club downstairs now...I haven't been there in YEARS!!!!

I am so happy that he can feel somewhat independent again...the extra $$ is going to be nice...but Ken is the type of guy that HAS to feel like he is contributing to society. He LOVES work (G-d bless him)!! He can't have not one non-productive day! I know the 'not-working' was starting to get to him. But, what drives me NUTS is that he didn't see how much my life had improved since his arrival. He did the laundry, cooked, took the kids to school, picked them up, coached soccer, spent time with my sons...all of that means SO much to me, not just a paycheck! But whatever!

Next step is the learner's permit, probably in a few week...then driver's license to give him even more independence!

Hey, Tre......the vets on here did not go through the NVC like is down now. I do remember getting paperwork saying we needed I-864 and I-134. I had prepared both, but they only took the I-134. Also, remember seeing payment details in there; but they were already taken care of by that time. They need to throw some of that old paperwork out.

You need to get Marcel that paperwork, whether you mail it to him or fax it. He may never get it through the JA mail.

I would call that 202# and ask your questions as well.

BTW......I do know Kimani (sp?) I asked Andre and he was like you know that guy, you talked to him all the time. I need to look over the pictures again. I remember the name, just not the face. We don't know Ricky or the other.
