First of all nice to see all the new Mama's online :D - Shauna a C-Section is no easy Chica...take your time and HEAL!!

Ok, look I am not trying to start ish...I remember the crazy Jena 6 convo we had a few months back and I don't want to go back there! But, something has been bothering me all day and I HAVE TO GET THIS OUT!!!

I AM MAD AS HELL!!! Can someone please explain to me how cops can fire 50 bullets and MURDER an unarmed man and WALK away without not even a bat of a lash? What get's me so upset is the cops ADMITTED that they did NOT identify themselves to Sean Bell and his Friends when they pulled out there weapons!!

So imagine one of our fiance's is coming out of a club the MORNING OF YOUR WEDDING!! You get into your car and you see 3-4 men in plain clothes pull out guns and say NOTHING!!!!! I'm sorry, I guess my a$$ would have been dead too, cause mi a tek foot han GONE!!!

I think that the African- American Community is so upset about this because this is not the 1st, 2nd, or even 20th time this has happened and the cops always walk without even saying "I'm Sorry, we killed your son in vain Mrs. Bell!"! Bwoy ladies, this is a VERY sad day indeed!

Bless-ed,

Gill

My problem with this is not the actions so much as the excessiveness of the actions. We all know police work is no easy task and a huge precentage of it is split second decisions and very little reaction time. I'm not questioning their use of force....they felt the force part necessary and since I was not there, who am I to say. But, the excessiveness of it is mind boggling. Could one guy not have shot him in the leg to take him down and then IF the situation warrented, shot to kill. 50 shots......Not only was that way beyond necessary....50 shots...is there any guarentee some of those weren't errant, hitting people not even involved in anything to do with this incident........I just hang my head in sadness at the whole thing.

There should never ever be any cheering in this kind of a situation.

There are cases when in the "heat of the moment" split second decisions and little reaction times dictacte this type of reaction from the police ; however this case was not one of those instances.

I disagree with that statement. From the official court transcripts......

... the confrontation that took place in front of the club was heated. The SUV owner, Fabio Coicou, gave the impression that he had a gun, causing at least one of the group to threaten to take it away from him.

And, the court finds, another threat was made by Joseph Guzman to retrieve a gun. At that point, nothing of a criminal nature had taken place. But, having witnessed that provocative confrontation between Mr. Coicou and the group, the undercover officers became concerned and followed the group around the corner to Liverpool Street.

Defendant Isnora approached the Nissan Altima into which Mr. Guzman and Sean Bell, two of the more active participants in the heated exchange, entered.

The Altima, which was driven by Mr. Bell, sped away from its parked position, struck Defendant Isnora and collided head on with the police van that had entered Liverpool Street. The Altima then went into reverse, backed up on to the

sidewalk, struck a gate and then went forward and to the right, striking the police van again. As this was happening, Defendant Isnora -- who testified in the grand jury -- observed Mr. Guzman, the front passenger, move his body as if he were reaching for a weapon. Defendant Isnora yelled, "Gun" and fired.

Other officers, indicted and unindicted, joined in from different locations on the street.

Again, I am not defending the excessiveness of it. Nor that it was a tragedy.

For me, the worst part is everytime something like this happens...Amadou Dialo, Eleanor Bumpers, Rodney King, etc. It just kills a little piece inside of me. As a Mom of two African-American Males it worries me that their lives aren't as valued as others. And yes, 3 cops on trila were minorities. I think it's that 'Behind the Blue Shield' attitude that has to change. Like you said Mich, They DID NOT identify themselves and like JG said..."FIFTY SHOTS!!!", One of the officers actually had enough time to empty his weapon of bullets and re-loaded it only to empty it a 2nd time!

 If you're wrong, you're wrong and justice should be equal regardless...

Good morning, everyone!

Welcome Momto! Which route you go is really a personal preference - it does seem like the K1s are faster, but the CR1 seems to be moving quickly as well (except for the Oct filers, unfortunately!). The guides at the top are really helpful, and will tell you everything that you need to get together to file. Since you are going down, I would go armed with the paperwork, like the G325A and a letter of intent, that your fiance needs to sign = that way you can get them signed and not rely on the mail.

Where is your fiance from?

HOLA MT2!!!!!!! A hardy welcome to you!

Look, the whole process can be VERY overwhemling...so that you had the courage to ask BEFORE sending the application...I applaud you for!

I would definately recommend that your fiance apply for a passport & birth certificate ...NOW!! (Depending upon how long a JA Passport application takes... dare I say, get the passport in hand BEFORE filing the 129F application) The process is moving quite a bit faster these days than in the past and you don't want to be caught with an approval in hand and none of the other documents.

If you are going the K1 route, you certainly want to read the VJ K1 Guide throughly before you even start! Here's the link:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1guide

Your SO (significant other...I didn't know what SO meant when I joined ...so just in case), should also be prepared to get:

1). The New 'Blue' Birth Certificate

2). Non- impediment to marriage form (from his local RGD or RDG-he'll know what I'm talking about)

3). Police Certificate from Kingston

Those are what you will need the day of your interview. But JA. being JA. just give him a heads up from now! I would start with the Birth Certificate from now, since he has never had one...it may take a little bit longer to get.

The Non- imped & Police Cert should be ok to wait on until you actually get your 2nd Notice of Approval (NOA2) which should state that your application has been approved and moved on to the next stage.

Your SO, should also be prepared to take a FULL medical exam...including drug test sooooo....JIC mek em know.

So, MT2, you have a little bit of home work! First being READ READ & READ the VJ K1 Guide...honestly, that thing was my best friend when I was putting my application together. Also, my personal recommendation...Make copies of EVERYTHING...and yes I do mean EVERYTHING you send in your application....especially the 129F & G325 forms themselves. Because the Embassy, IMO gets majority of the questions they ask your SO at the interview, from those forms and your Affividavit of support.

Other than that...welcome again...IMO, you are VERY LUCKY...this is a GREAT thread with really good people...all trying to help each other! You will find a little bit of everything here...Seasoned elders who can share their experiences with you and new additions, like yourself who can share their excitement and nervous thoughts with you! All in All it's a REALLY WONDERFUL PLACE TO BE!! I for one feel very blessed to be a part of such a dynamic and caring group...you will too! ;)

Oh, have a GREAT trip in JA...if I were you, I'd print out a few copies of the 129F & G325a, also type up your letter of intent...work with your fiance to fill out his forms & have your fiance sign the letter of intent when your down there...it could save you some $$ and time.

When you get a chance...tell us a little bit about yourself! Nothing crazy, just what lead you to VJ and this decision to file...etc. Yup....we are a nosy(myself included)...but for the most part..not to judgemental bunch!

Many blessings to you both and shout us back when you can!

Take Care,

Gill

Shauna I hope you feel better. Wow 2 Eps!! I never had to get one since they schedule my C-section. I am take my pain pills home to help the pain. The surgery was no joke though because I had two other surgieres it was hard to get her out. They had to vacuum her out thank goodness she was small. I was also allergic to the spinal tap with the drugs that put you under. I couldn't stop itching for 2 days and threw up. Yuck. I am so use to be allergic to things that it didn't phase me.

Shauna get plenty of rest and all the best on your recover. Speaking of rest I need some.

Hey Gill,

What's going on this Sunday morning. Just finished a plate a fritters, fry fish and bammi (what a combo).

JAX I had a C-Section also, I didn't take any of the pain meds, because I was nursing, so I just dealt with the pain. The gave me STAPLES  WHICH I told them I didn't want. It hurt like HELL to have them removed. That was my second C-Section, but the second time around I was blessed with a beautiful boy. Like Gill said, take your time. But you must move around. I made the mistake the first time and just stayed in bed and GAS nearli kill mi. With my second C-Section I was walking around latter that night. The nurses were yelling at me, but I didn't care. I didn't want to feel the pain I was feeling the first time around. I'm hoping and praying that God will bless me with a second child. It was a battle to get my son here.

********************************************************************************

....when it hurts to look back and you're scared to look ahead LOOK beside you and I'll be there.....

There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore... and who always will.

So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.

Novelette how are your allergies? I have been suffering so much the last couple of weeks. My voice is barely audible and I have the worst post nasal drip.

My allergies are horrible and I agree with the post nasal drip - Admin professionals day didn't help last week - everyone had fresh flowers on their desk!

I have been using the neti pot 2-3 times a DAY, trying to keep ahead of the infection that usually follows my allergies.

How do you like the neti pot? I'm afraid to use it but I hear that it helps a lot of people. I get injections regularly but I still suffer in the spring. I've considering using the neti pot but I keep putting it off.
