Lawney....ok there are a whole bunch of them around 4th street one is called D & H West Indian...so good the festival is to die for....just thinking of it is making me hungry....

the one outside the city is called D & H Jamaican Cuisine it is in Newark...you have to turn onto Route 4 and go past all these industry buildings and past Christiana Hospital and it will be on the right side past a sub shop...

the groccery store there in one on route 2 call Gigante and they sell a lot of west indies things and fresh fish...

the festival happens in august and is called Bob Marley People's Fest in Wilmington, DE

also philly is right up the road too...there is a great place on South Street that she could go to as well

I have friends that play in a reggae band and they play there all the time - I LOVE going down (usually beginning of the season / end of the season when it's not crowded). That happens to me all the time, but they are being RUDE! And when they done...I just lace them with the RAW PATWAH. The look on their face is more than satisfaction for me.

I know they are being rude - but it's funnier to me to let them know after they put their foot in their mouth that I understood every word!

I can read it and for the most part understand it because thats all Neil will speak to me. Now as for me speaking it... I can but it is a mixture of patwa/english but I am determined to speak it in full suh mi ago keep wuking on ie He gets a kick outta making me chat hup 'im friends and family what likkle mi knoa.

I am the same way that I can read it and understand it - can't really speak it yet. Funny story, years ago I was sitting with two Jamaicans - one an old friend, and one I just met. The new one was chattin patois about me and my friend non-stop - Rude as all get out - I just sat there without saying anything. Then he asked my friend to ask me for a cigarette (still in Patois) - I picked up the pack and handed him one - The look on his face was priceless - My friend just started laughing and told him that I understood EVERYTHING he had been saying - I have never seen a man go so red before!

That happened to me last time when I went down for the interview...b/c of all the construction in Mobay now...there are alot of Dominicans working in that area of JA right now. So we went to the gas station in Ken's town. I was walking by and these two Dominican men were talking about me. One of them was trying to 'chat' tuh me. So, I have a functional use of Spanish...5 years in HS and 4 in college. So I start talking to them about where they work and what they were doing, asking them if they knew of any Dominican hair dressers around. Making jokes and laughing... Nothing crazy...it was all good (plus I love practicing my Spanish). Well wan of deh man's ooman (wan skettle) came out of deh Gas station and started going OFF!!! Bout ow mi need fi find mi own Man han ray tay tay! Mi just laugh and tell deh men inna Spanish fi mek sure dem a use dem condom. They laughed right back and har 'man' said har pumpum STINK!

Deh skettle den turn tuh har friend han said "Dyam face-ty han bright Yankee gyal bout ow she ah guh try tek mi man and ah suh Browning ooman stay. Ow mi tink mi betth den har cause mi cyan chat Spanish...Ow she should fling some acid pon mi ...ray tay tay!"

Mi jus tell har "Look here yuh nasty pissa skettle, nuh boddah start nuh ruckus wid mi afta yuh likkle fenky fenky man! Truss mi is strictly pu$$y em a look frum yuh han when em wuk done...yuh DONE!" I used to love that. Andre's friends would be talking and one would look at me and say to Andre "does she understand". He'd say uh huh and you can practically see the guy blush and move on to another subject.
