this might be a stupid question but...

we are in the midst of AOS. my husband has his EAD, but we are still waiting for his GC. we did not file AP because we were not expecting to travel. we just found out a close family member is getting married in july, and would like to make it to the wedding. is it possible to apply for AP even now after his application is already there? Is there an extra fee? is it worth it at this point??

You can apply for AP at any point in the process, however because it wasn't all filed at the same time there will be an extra fee. The fee is $305.

There is no #305 fee for this, because the $1010 paid for the I-485 covers interim benefits like AP and EAD, you may want to read form I-131 directions page 7:

NOTE: If you filed a Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, as of July 30, 2007,no fee is required to also file a request for advance parole on Form I-131. You may file the I-131 concurrently with your I-485, or you may submit the I-131 at a later date. If you file Form I-131 separately, you must also submit a copy of your Form I-797C, Notice of Action, receipt as evidence of the filing of an I-485 as of July 30, 2007.

Yes you can file the I-131 NOW, you need to include a copy of I-485 NOA1 letter with it to show that no fee is required for it.

You should get AP or Green-card before the trip.

Not true. Interim benefits for any AOS application file on or after July 30, 2007 are included in the fee whether or not they are filed at the same time.
