As I said, they would deserve to lose if everyone of them shared this defeatist attitude. Honestly, I find this astonishing. So, it's not so easy to get the nomination, tough ####.

...sigh. I don't think you really grasp the process. If somebody has a better system for selecting a Party's candidate, they should tell the DNP.

Maybe she will give her "I have come tooooo faaaaar to turn back now" speech in her funny accent again. It would seem more appropriate now then it did the first time.

P. S. Joy says that if I keep posting in VJ I will move up to the next level after senior member. I told her that after the senior member comes the demented member stage.

My beloved Joy is here, married and pregnant!

Baby due March 28, 2009

History isn't always doomed to repeat itself. You have a potential nominee who, for whatever reason, has motivated new voters to get out and vote and regardless of how the rest of the campaign plays out, if he is that good and he finally gets the nomination, then there is no reason why he can't mount a spirited presidential campaign too. However, if there is something wrong with the Dems election process that means that they don't even get a shot at the presidency if there's a tight race then they should fix it or again, they deserve to lose.

I probably don't, it seems unnecessarily complicated and an 'all things to all men that pleases no one' system. There is nothing in the Dems system that insists that a candidate drops out if they statistically can't win (using projected figures as I understand it) so the party has to rely on some kind of 'honor' system if there's a tight race or they stand to lose the presidential campaign because that's historically how it works. No, quite simply I don't get it.

I don't get that either. People on here are continually quoting the math that means that only if she wins by significant margins in the next elections can she even stay close to Obama. Either that's true, or there is some wishful thinking going on.

You missed a third option. It's not relevant. Hillary doesn't need to win the pledged delegates to be the nominee. She merely needs to win the sum of pledged delegates and super delegates.

The 'math' applies only to pledged delegates.

The vote of the people won't matter. Hillary will find a way grab the nomination despite the overall election results. Just sit back and observe.

So, the Democratic nomination election process is not democratic and essentially nuts?

The super delegates are in place precisely to avoid nominating someone the political experts consider unelectable in the general. Of course that's not democratic.

BTW dailykos is reporting that Obama is AHEAD in Ohio delegate count at this time...

As expected, though surprisingly enough, Obama is currently winning the delegate battle in the state, 32-28.

The final margin will have lots to say how the remainder of Ohio's 141 delegates are allocated.
