I applied for the k-1 visa in July of 2007. We were approved in California in about 4 months. It took about 3 months after that to have the interview at the embassy in Manila. So approx 7 months from start to finish. Its been 16 months since i have seen my fiance in person. I didnt apply for the k-1 right away after returning to the states after visiting her in Manila and her family in Cebu. I applied for the visa about 9 months later.

The best way to avoid delays is to take the time to read all the material on this site, and it doesnt hurt to make

a couple of contacts in the local area where your fiance lives. The locals know the current "buzz" such as how

long is it really taking to get a passport and where your fiance is to get her documents.

When I filled out my paperwork, I would read it over first, and then put it down and then read it over again in a day, and then fill it out. I would go back and look it over at least three times before accepting it as finished. Look at

the sample forms on this site that are done.

I took extra time doing all the paperwork involved and didnt rush to send anything in. This is a several month process, whats a few more days to make sure you get it right?

Thats the best advice I can give to those who are doing this..

Many thanks to this site for being here.

My fiances visa will be delivered to her soon, and I will be working on getting a plane ticket for her.

Its worth the wait.
