I know - it was weird to see it in the cold light of day. Seriously - the hood had not a scratch. The headlights were not even broken. So obviously that part of the car 'rode' under the tractor trailer...!

Your guardian angel was with you both is all I can say after seeing those pictures. I hope that you and Chas are feeling better to today.

Tracy, in looking at those pictures, its so hard to believe that the semi didn't know / didn't stop. Or anyone else for that matter! It is truly a miracle that you guys weren't seriously injured!

Nope - I rarely use that anyway, and esp. wouldn't use it in those conditions! Funny how a lot of people seem to think this must have happened because I'm a ####### driver. I thought a car could hydroplane no matter who was driving. Oh well!

I don't know how the semi couldn't have known he'd hit us, either, Julez. But I guess doing the weight ratio (between our car and him), it's possible he never felt us.

Bloody hell, Tracy! I've JUST read this and am so pleased you are [relatively] unharmed. Those pics are horrible, you just have to look at the windscreen and think "that's where their heads would be" and it scares the life outta me. :(

You'd think that the driver of the semi would have looked out of his side mirrors and seen you, the way your car spun away would have caught his eye, no doubt. But unfortunately, I've seen how semi drivers are over here and they aren't exactly the "champions" of the road. They are bullies and arrogant at the best of times.

The important thing is that you and Chas lived to tell the tale, thank goodness. Stay healthy and I wish you both quick recoveries. (F)

Unfortunately the world and VJ are full of experts who would have been doing something different so that it would never have happened to them. Blah, blah, blah ad nauseum. You know what to do with ####### opinions, Tracy!

And I agree with Mags, its amazing that the driver didn't see you, even if he couldn't feel the car. And I wholeheartedly agree that the main thing is that you are both (relatively) OK!

I'm glad the both of you walked away. It's scary...I've never hydroplaned myself but I've ditched my car on gravel and have had plenty of close calls on ice. Hope your necks are feeling better!

I drove police cars for a living for quite a few years and I've had one of those hydroplane on me and I was a Class 1 advanced. Nothing to do with your driving. The wind/air pressure changes alongside a semi it tends to suck you towards the truck. If that happened and the tires lost grip at the same time there would have been nothing you could have done.

Take no notice of those that think it couldn't have happened to them.
