Hi.

My wife is filling her I864, to support my AOS.

We can use her father as a joint sponsor since her salary is under the 125% of 2008 poverty guideline.

Recently I read on the site that her savings account can be used as an asset.

So we are 2 in our Household, and her her annual income is 13,000$ for 2007.

125% of the poverty for 2008 is 17,500$

17,500-13,000= 4,500$

Since I'm the spouse we need to multiply the 4,500 by 3 equals: 13,500$

So if I got it right, if my wife have 14,000$ In her savings account we don't need her father as a sponsor...

Am I right??

Is it too tight and we should make her father as a sponsor anyway? I really don't want to bother him, If it's not Necessary.

Thanx In Advance for anyone who can review my question...

And much more thanx to anyone who knows the correct answer for sure...

thank you very much.

Shlomi.

Yes that is correct, that amount of savings, plus income would be enough.

Can anyone just check it again and make sure I am not doing a mistake?? plz....

thank you, :-)

well, you're obviously stressed about this, so i'll give you my opinion:

I'd get the co-sponsor onboard. At least ask him, talk to him about it, explain that its an obligation on him. I know that its the last thing you want to do, put if you submit what you have and get an RFE then you'll have the stress of the RFE, plus the stress of having to ask him, plus the stress of the short timeframe, plus the stress you'd have had in the intervening time. Be open with him, talk it through with him. My co-sponsor turned out to be really happy to be able to help my wife and I start a new life together, so you can never predict people's emotions. Its a noble thing to want to stand on your own two feet, but USCIS will fire out an RFE without regard for nobility.

thank you for your replay...

The question is if our assets are enough for them, or we need a co-sponsor...
