I had interview on June 3rd. Office in Houston had the A\C broken, so it was terribly hot. As I wrote earlier I was 38+ weeks pregnant and was scheduled for induction the very same day due to diabetes. I had to go off insulin, so this added nausea to my misery. Sweet IO lady pulled me out the queue and interviewed me though there was a bunch of people in front of me. Interview was easy an I got my oath letter today for July 2nd

Cheers to you Balad!! What a day must be to you! I am very happy to you and your family and definiteley one of your gift for passing Interview is your next day delivery... ...your son the bundle of joy ...

Congrats for finally ending your long journey

Scared about having an interview or a baby? An epidural sure helps in having a baby, but I don't believe you can get an epidural for taking the interview.

Confidence begins with study for the interview. Would wish you good luck, but no such thing as luck. Well, meeting my wife was darn good luck, LOL.

Two short weeks left for my wife, just hope things around calm down by then, way too many frivalous things going on in our lives right now and feel our grown kids problems are their problems and trying to convince her, they are not our problems. It will be just her and me in that four hour drive to the field office, hopefully we can review the test so she will do okay. She knew all the answers a couple of weeks ago, but seem to forget some.

Did anyone here flunk the civics test? And if they did, what happens? Do you get a second chance to take it, or do you have to send another 675 bucks and start from scratch? Ha, from my engineering background, always think worse case scenarios.

Hello Everyone..

So yesterday was my interview.. and I passed... it was such a piece of cake.

I studied for months for this.. infact I over did it.

I had to write: Today I came to Boston and I had to read: Today I went to school.

I forgot some of the questions they asked me..

What do we celebrate on July 4th ?

What is the national anthem ?

Something about the senators... ?

and the last 3 I forgot - but they were easy.

My Interview went well too.. They were training someone while they were interviewing me.

I do still owe some Taxes.. but as long as you have a payment plan and prove that you been paying that is not an issue.

Some small issue with my name... since I have an ü in my last name and they used u on my Allien Card but thats going to be fixed :)

I believe my Oath is in September.. I was hoping for earlier since I am dealing with a Dual Citizenship here... and I need to fax papers to the German Government by September 9th.. but I dont think it will be before then.

Thats just a small issue and I just need to contact the German Consulate for that and they can just issue me another certificate.

Overall I was very pleased with the process at the INS yesterday - I expected a bunch of crumpy people in INS uniform there.. lol... but they all were very nice and friendly and made me feel totally relaxed :)

Well I need to get to work now - I will keep everyone posted on my journey.

Spangled is certainly not a commonly used English word, one of those early English words that lost popularity. Then set to music of an old British pub drinking song, but not approved by our congress until 1931. Not an easy song to sing if you have a deep voice that breaks up hitting the high notes. Wife had problems with that word Spangled, but just said you just have to know it, not sing it. Normally sung by opera stars and lately by rock singers at the Super Bowl in a manner that doesn't seem to be quite patriotic

Very poetic and not very meaningful.

O! say can you see by the dawn's early light

What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming.

Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,

O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming.

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Seems like we could do better, song has four verses, only the first one is sung. A contestant on Who Wants to be a Millionaire didn't know that Home of the Brave is the last words of our national anthem. That cost him.
