Produce always seems to be so much less expensive at the Arab groceries for some reason.

Also, olives. We can get a container for $1 what would cost $6+ at the regular supermarket.

Don't forget the spices. $1-2 for stuff that costs $10 at the supermarket.

Oh, and did I mention you usually get 5-10X more spice?

Wow you guys are lucky. I live in a small country town in Alabama and as far as I know we do not have any arabic food stores.; I am so worried about what I will be feeding my SO when he gets here.

Don't worry. You have Internet. :D

( This coming from an Arab who married an Arab from overseas... go figure. )

Yes, you're right about the spices. I either buy my spices at the Arab grocery or else at the drugstore. Sometimes even if you go to the "ethnic food" aisle at the regular supermarket, the spices there will be significantly less than the ones in the spice aisle. I don't understand this.
