Okay for those of you who are having your Interview........you will receive a DHL tracking number. You can use the site below to track your package. Also you can see under more options Track by e-mail where you can sign up for email alerts and everytime your visa packet moves even within the embassy the DHL package is scanned and you will receive an e-mail noification from DHL.

DHL Track by number

However, if the pick up date does not change then it is still within the embassy....even if it says DHL Facility - Cairo Egypt.

Hope this helps you all.

It tracks when the embassy sends your visa. If you look up the number on the receipt your husband would have received when he paid the dhl fee at his interview, you'll see a pickup date maybe and that will correspond to the date the fee was picked up, not when an item was picked up. That is what I saw for a few months but now it just shows my number but no pickup date. I used to check this everyday and then gave up. lol

Thanks Cheryl.

Mine has said the same thing on DHL for the last 3 weeks..........that is why I didn't know how

to get alerts when it is moving in the Embassy. If I sign up for the email alerts, does it give

you this info about movement within the Embassy then, versus just checking it on the DHL tracking?

If you love me, then I have everything I need

Yes Lynn that is what the guy at DHL told me. I received my first email alert on Feb 19 shown below with some modifications:

AWB Number: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Pickup Date: 2008-02-11 09:32:00 UTC

Service: NN

Pieces: 1

Cust. Ref:55

Description:DOM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ship From:

THE UNITED STATES EMBASSY

8 KAMAL EL-DIN SALAH ST.

GARDEN CITY

CAIRO, EG

Ship To:

Habibi's Name

His address

Damanhour EG

EVENT CATEGORY

February 19 2008 7:59 AM - Arrived at DHL facility - Cairo,Egypt

The areas I bolded the original pick up date and the event category description should change once it leves the embassy. Otherwise the guy says it means it is moving from department to department within the Embassy.

I only found this out because when we received this alert they had Habibi's address wrong and I was concerned so I emailed DHL about it. That is when he said my package was still at Embassy. Then I emailed him and asked if still at embassy why did I receive an email alert? He said because you signed up for all alerts not just pick uo and delivery alerts. So it is how I understood it. We have received 3 toatl alerts....Feb 19....Mar 2.....Mar 3.

We hope this means it is coming to an end for us and we will get visa soon. Will keep you all informed.

It send the alerts automatically each time it is scanned. It will not show past scans. So if you just signed up today you will not get any alerts until the next time it moves.

That may be within the embassy or it may be when it actually gets picked up by the DHL courier.

When your notice is like mine that I posted above and the shipment pick up date still shows the Interview date that means if you receive an alert it is still inside the embassy.

When you receive one that shows a new pick up date or new information like package in transit for example then the package has left the embassy.

But you will not get notices for scans that happened before you signed up.

Hope this explains it better.

Don't give up, bridg !! We had about 3 or 4 different DHL numbers that we were tracking & for months, none of them moved... then, one day we checked dhl.com and that's when I posted the DHL package was being picked up from the embassy. DON"T LOSE THOSE TRACKING NUMBERS... ok ?

The one that they wound up using was the one that we used to send our packet 3 with... not the one from his interview! So, make sure you guys keep track of all the different waybill numbers.....

Oh wow I would have never thought to check on that one! The one we have from the payment at the embassy doesn't show anything when I use Cheryl's link so maybe the packet 3 will. I'll have to ask him what that one is and hope he still has it.

Yes me too......I never thought to check the packet 3 again. I hope I still have it......Ahmed doesn't.

I just want the visa so Habibi can come :crying: It is my daughter's birthday this weekend and we really wanted him here for it. And if he cannot come this week then I will not be able to be off with him when he comes.

But I know I should not be upset...many have waited alot longer than us. I just miss him so much. I pray we all get speedy Happy results SOON.
