When you talk abnout getting your elected officials involved-at what stage? Do you alert them to your filingand sign release forms and have them go to bat for you later if needed? -OR- do you have them write letters from the start and include them with your petition so the gov. knows they(elected officials) are aware of this filing?

thanx!

I went on my senators web site and printed out the release form. I got him involved after 9 mo of AP Obama is my senator and I have to tell you Cairo sent him a letter back real fast and it seemed they started working on our case. I think if you have a good senator that will get involved it helps. Some you have to push there ###.

I agree with you Cheryl i did the same thing i actually just contacted my Senator about 1 month ago and he also got a fast response from Cairo so and my fiance got a phone call like the next day to update all his information i think it helped. I will be contacting them again within the next month. But i think its ok to contact them when your at least 6 months or longer on A/P. I will keep you in my prayers that you hear some good news soon. Hang in there.

You can get the form if you are just now filing and be ready, just before the interview let your rep know and they can send a little message showing their concern for this case etc etc not sure it helps but one i know did and they did fine, then of course if things dont go smoothly for whatever reason you are again already prepared to get them involved quickly for any problems after the interview

haha.. my senator is Clinton... wouldnt it be a real hoot if pres-elect though Senator Clinton or Obama is writing to the service centers.... that would be something.

I dont know if it has helped...but I have my senator involved since beginning..they have contacted the VSC several times requesting an update...also sent letter to Cairo re:interview and have indicated they will send a correspondence prior to the interview date and after..and keep following until the VISA is issued...I do know that the Embassy has personally called TArek and emailed me about the troubles w/them receiving packet 3...not sure if that is due to the inquiries from my senators....or if this is routine?! Perhaps others here w/more experience may know....I certainly don't think it can hurt to get a senator involved......good luck to you all:) Melinda

I contacted my rep about 6 weeks I think after our petition had left the NVC and we still hadn't heard anything from Casa. Approximately 1 week after I contacted him, he called me back with an interview date from Casa and packet 3 arrived shortly thereafter. I'm fully convinced that it was the intervention that got us the interview. We'd probably still be waiting for an interview.

I met with the woman who handles visa problems at Cong. Tierney's office and she sent off an email to them. They replied that I"m in admin processing though about a month later his neighborhood was interviewed. She told me to contact her in two months and that it probably was too soon. I just contacted her last week so we'll see.

I also contacted Sen. Kennedy's office. They took about four months to get back to me and just emailed Cairo about a month ago and they still have not heard back. You'd think he'd have more pull than Tierney but who knows. FYI Kennedy's office wouldn't even send the inquiry until the 6 month point after the interview which I guess is why they held off on contacting me until then.

Hopefully we'll have some movement in the next few months but if not then I"m deciding that they really aren't much of a help.
