And back to food we go

Anyway Glady, I know it must be so hard for you, and the rest of you too who are missing your homes. The difference with us is that we both live in Canada and we are choosing to move. If we don't like it there we will pack up the car and move on. I think it must be really tough to not have that as a real option right now, plus moving to a place where your SO is already set up and good to go and there you are - just plopped in the middle of it.

I was wondering how long it would take for food to come up!! lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

soo funny! as the American living in Canada, when I Immigrated here I was in a couple groups for Americans living in Canada and no matter what the conversation was it always got back to food that we missed from the US...going grocery shopping for the first time in the new country can be shocking..LOL...my husbands list of things he has to take from Canada to the US is 90% food related.. LOL..

Glady, I hope that over time you dont still regret moving and that things will get better for you... when I came to Canada I had a hard time until I started working and making new friends... I have been homesick literally everyday that Ive been here (6 years in January) but it has gotten easier.. (except for the snow thing, not a winter fan at all!..LOL)

My Canadian husband says he will be "fine" living in the US...but I know hes gonna go through the homesickness too.. especially since hes a 2 a day Timmie's guy!..LOL

I could write an encyclopedia about the times I've felt like leaving --- and it's only being 5 months. Yeah, yeah, I have a job and all that jazz, but it's not the same thing. I miss Canadian health care, my friends and colleagues, etc.

Here I have my in laws who are freaking awesome :luv:, but my parents are still in my lovely sunny Mexico - :crying: - and when I think of the life (professional and social) that I had back there I get pretty pouty  . Whomever said that immigrants have it better in the US has not looked at the whole picture. I miss my own hosue in the mountains, the closeness of my extended family, my little helper Teresa, my driver Agapito (yup, that was the man's name), my weekly visits to the nail parlor, etc. Privilege is gone. Being part of the working class, and almost of the working poor with a graduate degree had never been part of my life.

But we are not going anywhere for the time being. Although the redhead did seriously mention something last night about relocating to Victoria in a few years.... we'll see. No hurry.

Breathe in, breathe out.

I dont trust the doctors down here...I think they're all in it for a profit.

I havnt made it to the US YET!.... I dont know if i will get homesick for canada exactly, as much as my family. I have been living in different cities then them for 7yrs, and have to go 14+months without seeing them when i am still in the same country.

I havnt had to deal with US health care either, but I have had to deal with Canadian quite a bit, and I think that Canadian docs arnt in it at all.

I wish they wanted profit, at least it would maybe put some motivation into them.

anyways... I can not wait to be homesick
