Hi -

I received my K-1 visa a few months back and will be moving to Puerto Rico next month. My fiance is an american citizen who was born and brought up in PR.

We are planning to get married in PR. We would like to get the legal process of the marriage out of the way as quickly as possible so that there is no delay to applying for the AOS, so we are trying to figure out what the process is in PR.

Is there any one who can give us guidance?

Thanks !

You go to the court where you'll get married, and set the date. Then they'll probably give you a paper with the instructions to get the marriage license, but basically you buy a "sello" for US$ 5 and go to a "Registro Democrafico" to get the form. You fill it out and take it to a lab where you need to take a blood test for STDs, then you go back with the results so they can issue the marriage license, which is only valid for 10 days so you do all of this so you're done within 10 days of your wedding date.
