yanno...if the ppl of Gaza are unhappy with a big wall between them and Israel, then they should talk to Israel to find out how to open it up again.....I DO know that launching rockets into Israel will not do it.

If the ppl of Gaza are unhappy with a big wall between them and Egypt, they should talk to Egypt to find out how to open it up to allow for travel and bringing in supplies. After all, when the wall was breeched by desperate ppl last month it wasnt US troops there that were rounding them up qnd throwing them back into Gaza.

As for all the English sources of info for that part of the world.....I didnt know...but Im still not interested.

Well -- there we have it again, folks -- from the horses own mouth. Desert Fox is quite content to wallow in his own ignorance, and is "not interested" in learning anything.

Yet, inexplicably, he continues to enter these discussions to pipe up with his fallacies, his uninformed "impressions," and his "advice."

Teehee.

Unfortunately as long as we have religions in the world we will have people who feel justified in their hate for each other. The current American president will soon be replaced with somebody who understands that religious beliefs have no place in government.

Wasn't this known in 1776 and written into the US Constitution??

well i think MR desert fox just love to talk about launching rockets to Israel and he forgot many things to talk about

he forgot that the Palestine people don't have any food,medicine,electricity,gas.......

he forgot that the Palestine people fight to defend their own country

can you tell me where was Israel of the map before 1948 ? before they attack Palestine and took their land

i agree with you its bad to launch rockets to innocents people in Israel

but i think you don't know that Israel attack Palestine with rockets, guns , tanks , air force .....and they killing innocents people in Palestine women , old people , children plus they don't even want to give them what they need to live just to survive

Nothing's impossible . Nothing's unreachable .When I am weary you make me stronger

This love is beautiful .So unforgettable . I feel no winter cold when we are together .

Will you stand by me ?!!!Hold on and never let me go .

Will you stand by me?!! With you i know i belong . When the story gets told .

When day turns into night .I look into your eyes . I see my future now .All the world and its wonder

This love wont fade away. And through the hardest days . I will never question us .You are the reason my only reason.

I'm blessed to find what i need in a world loosing hope. you are my only believe .

You make things right every time after time.....

Will you stand by me ?!!!

I love you so much and i miss you so much more .

The U.S. State Department is "unaware" of the Jerusalem Post and Haaretz and B'Tselem ???????????????????!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe you better report me. While you're at it, better report Condaleezza Rice -- she gives interviews to reporters from these "unknown" papers.

Somehow, every time you post on this subject, you manage to make an even bigger fool of yourself.

B'Tselem has the most comprehensive, up-to-date figures on the casualties on both sides of this conflict.

That's why I gave you the link (the one you're "not interested" in looking at.)

Unfortunately we are talking about ppl who have been fighting over religious differences for over 1000 years and will continue for the next 1000. Nothing that W of M nor I will be able to change.

Despite popular belief, close study of American history reveals that the American experiment was primarily about ejecting religion from government. They did a pretty good job considering the times. Most of the founding fathers, especially Jefferson and Adams, were keenly aware that religion was very dangerous and had no place in government. However, they also had to get the constitution accepted by the various states, so some pandering was necessary.

Since that time many self-interested religions in America have tried to claim that America created as a Christian country. Nothing is farther from the truth. Many of the first settlers here were trying to escape from organized religions, primarily the Church of England.

Of course there are many Christians here, but they don’t have as much influence as the world supposes. Most people in the U.S. play lip service to their religion, but very few actually follow their religion closely.

By the way, the U.S. Constitution was written in 1787, not 1776, and has no religious content.

Take a look around the world and you will see that any country that has an official religious component is probably not a place you would want to live for various reasons.

As for these regions fighting for the last 1000 years…that is about how long we have had the two major competing religions in that region. Without religion, these people would have socialized and inter-bred to the point that by now they would have too many common interests and customs to hate each other.

I know this line has been repeated so many times that a lot of people believe it, but it is absolutely incorrect.

These two groups (Jews and Muslims) have *not* been fighting in the area for the last 1000 years -- in fact, relations between the two groups in Palestine had been relatively peaceful until the Zionist invasion began in the 20th century, on a mission to wrest Palestine from its inhabitants.

Jews and Muslims lived in relative peace across the Muslim world for more than 1000 years -- it was Muslims who allowed Jews to return to Jerusalem, hundreds of years after the Romans threw them out.

Frank+Jocelyn -- I know you are an intelligent and open-minded person -- but please read up on the actual history of Palestine before you repeat this fallacy. I can give you lots of links if you need them -- here is one to start you off, if you like. It's an excellent capsule history compiled by Jews for Justice in the Middle East:

Wife of Mahmoud you are exactly right about the “1000” years statement. I couldn’t resist commenting on it because you hear people un the U.S. say it so much. This stems from the fact that trouble has existed in that region for the duration of most people’s lives. However, there have been numerous wars and conflicts on all continents, including the American continent. Clearly the most violent wars in terms of casualties were actually fought in Europe between Europeans.

I am sympathetic to all people who suffer. I believe that both sides in this conflict sincerely think they are at various times the persecuted. That can probably be said about the people in any conflict. Clearly there is no easy answer to the Palestinian question or somebody would have already found it.

Human history is full of instances where indigenous people were driven out and/or killed by other societies. There have also been many instances in history where two cultures integrated and their descendants continued to occupy the same region. But always the outcome is the same…either the cultures assimilate or one is eliminated. The later example is what happened here on the American continent. The Native Americans fought brilliantly for a few hundred years, but eventually the Europeans killed 95% of them with their weapons and diseases.

There are no examples in human history of two societies sharing one relatively small geographic region and yet maintaining vastly different cultures. This has only been successful when there are geographic features that separate the cultures, such as water, mountains or large stretches of area too poor in natural resources to support large societies, such as the world’s great deserts or artic regions.

Anyway, my point is that if the rest of the world would stay out of this problem, it would get solved, although probably not peacefully and probably not to the West’s satisfaction. But it would get solved and after the horrors of it, I think finally there would be peace.

The death toll in Gaza is now over 100, more than half of them civilians. Many of the civilian casualties have come when Israeli missiles fired by helicopters, jets and unmanned drones have hit buildings and homes. Israeli forces also shot dead a 14-year-old boy in Hebron, as demonstrations broke out across the West Bank.

One the Israeli side, 1 Israeli was killed by a rocket launched from Gaza last week (the first since May 2007,) and the Israel army reports that 2 of its soldiers have been killed.
