Like the topic says, what EXACTLY are the service centers checking on during a K-1 visa petition?? Do they validate that all your papers are correct? Do they do a background check? I am just curious as to what actually happens there with all the paperwork we send.

Yes, they do a background check on the petitioner, sometimes that slows up petitions if you have a very common name and there are some criminals with the same name.

There is a post somewhere around here from some guy that used to be an adjudicator, he explained how the process works. Very informative post, maybe someone has it bookmarked and will post it.

O man,.. My fiancee and I have the same last name, CHAN . Which is sort of a common last name. I hope that won't slow down the process.

But, really my English name is Tanffy and I don't think that is common because I'm probably the only one with that name.

Anyways, don't give up your hope because the process is a bit longer than you thought.

Have a good weekend all~
