Don't miss anything here. We make everything whenever we've got the time. Not often though - so - it stays as a treat.

The only thing we don't do here ... ever ... is bread.

Handmade, fresh & hot is pretty good.

Schwarma tastes great, thus - is fun to eat ... but it's not fun 2 hours later. ( HEARTBURN! UGH! And I don't get heartburn easy... lol! )

And, last but not least - I don't miss the fresh Amman pastries. :)

Yep. Don't want to look at em. I Never have them. I'll eat a quarter of the tray solo if I can get my hands on em.

Especially those ones that look like a 2-inch long birds-nest (shredded & toasted fillo) piroulette stuffed with nuts ... oh man ... I battle over those. Don't know the name - and I don't WANT to know the name ... lol ... because I'll start asking for them! :D

I miss how fresh everything is the veggies and fruit. And I don't know what it is but the lean hamburger we got at Carfor was the best. And I miss the warm bread that was delivered every morning. And the griled chicken my hubby would make me on the gril. Damn now im hungry!

At least we have Laughing Cow cheese here, I love the stuff !

I couldn't believe all the different flavors and quantity of this cheese in Morocco! :o

heh heh, what about Puk cheese? (which I eat too much of.).. he was suprised and laughed when I picked it up in the store and said uh.. we must have this.. :)

I had been addicted to it for a long while before I went there..

Im so glad to have 2 very good ME groceries in my city. :)

One makes fresh bread daily.. to die for!

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

I never had shawerma. Or half the other things you guys are talking about. lol. Maybe that's why I don't miss it much. We lived on bread and cheese a lot 'cause we didn't want to go out much.

I do miss when he'd go out in the morning (afternoon actually but when we'd wake up) and bring home some falafel sandwiches and I do miss the fresh bread he'd get from the boys who rode the bikes with the bread in their baskets.

yes and of course the freshness of the vegetables, fruits, and meats. always while visiting maroc it made my system quite regular like it had never been before. like at least minimum two times a day.not trying to disgust VJ..but the food was great for my body.

I miss sitting around the tabliyya with my husband, MIL, FIL and SILs for breakfast that consisted of...fuul, falafel, white cheese, olives, cucumbers & tomatoes, fig jam, bread and tea. The food was simple but the company was awesome. We recreate that breakfast here some weekends but without all the others at the table it's just not the same.

I also miss my MIL's ru'aa and goolash (not the stew variety). I miss the way my SILs cook fish and firakh meshwiyya. We cook those things here also but again, it's not the same.

Other MENA foods like shawerma, kufta, kabob, tawook, etc. I prefer from the Lebanese places here.

I would pay a hundred bucks for a true amman shawerma sandwich....Nothing I have had in the states compares to how they cook it in jordan....mmmm with homemade mayo cole slaw and french fries...topped of with an ice cold pepsi....all for the low low price of 2.5 dinars

I didnt have any in Amman, but I had homemade and in Irbid. I had hands on teaching from the pro. :)

I just tried it last week, and you know what? It was pretty damn good, if I do say so myself! heh

But what I would REALLY like.. I crave everyday since I left?.. feteh made with lamb. If I could get a good recipe.. I would be a happy woman

What is this lamb dish? any similarities to Mrouziya (honey-spiced lamb) traditionally served during Aid el Kebir?

Reem Shawerma located at the 2nd Circle in Amman.......and an orange Mizo drink. :crying::crying::crying:

We also had the best Mashawi (BBQ) in Jerash. The nice thing there is you order the meat and it comes with a gazillion side dishes. Unlike here where every dish costs 4 bucks!

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.
