In addition to above, if her passport is in the maiden name and the GC is in the married name, then your wife should also take the marriage certificate along.

09-02-2005 Applications for AOS, EAD, and AP received by MSC

10-21-2005 AOS fingerprint notice for 12-08-2005

11-07-2005 AP approved

12-05-2005 Infopass appt at San Jose office for interim EAD -- Refused, because it is already approved by MSC on 11-07-2005

12-07-2005 Attempt at interim EAD at San Francisco office -- no go. Back to San Jose, where CSO (chief station officer) tells they will contact MSC via email to request permission to issue interim EAD

12-08-2005 Biometrics for AOS and EAD. Having no EAD appt letter was no problem (used EAD NOA)

12-15-2005 EAD arrived in the mail

12-24-2005 Received interview letter; interview scheduled 03-01-2006

01-28-2006 Received replacement SSN card in married name (5 wks since application)

03-01-2006 AOS interview -- approved; received stamp in the passport

03-13-2006 Green card arrived in the mail

I have some doubts about that also... how about the passaport? Mine is Brazilian... Can I travel wiht the same passaport?

05/11/05 - interview

07/16/05 - Wedding in Port Angeles, WA

08/19/05 - Medical Exam (again) - vaccination record

09/14/05 - Adjustment application received by USCIS

09/19/05 - NOA 1 for I-485.

10/28/05 - Received Notification for Biometrics

11/28/05 - Biometrics Appointment....

12/15/05 - Received NOA- case transferred to CSC(Laguna NIguel)

01/27/06 - Green Card approved

02/01/06 - Notification letter received by mail

02/03/06 - Green Card received by mail

Timeline

No, you don't have to change the passport you have from your country. A lot of people never change passports. Some consulates allow you to add a notation into your foreign passports about the new name; you may want to check on this with Brazilian consulate. But as I said a lot of people never change passports.

No, you don't have to change the passport you have from your country. A lot of people never change passports. Some consulates allow you to add a notation into your foreign passports about the new name; you may want to check on this with Brazilian consulate. But as I said a lot of people never change passports.

Why?

Passport would then match other documents, no?

In my case I couldn't change my married name to my passport my country does not allow name changes so all they wanted to do was add my married name to my maiden name and it would be incredibly long so I had to leave my passport in my maiden name .. and I never have a problem despite my greencard has my married name. :star:
