Is DCF an option for me?

I am in this K-3 debacle and weighing my options. Quick background: I live in Japan with

my Japanese wife for the past two years. I don't have a resident card, just stay the 90

days, fly out for a trip with her, then come back for another 90 days. My I-130 petition

has been approved in Sept 07. The K-3 is pending. My wife's girlfriend did the whole Visa

thing herself here in Tokyo and it took less than four months, so we wonder why can't we

do it? Will I have to physically present the approved I-130 petition? I am not sure what

that entails, in other words, is that an envelope with all sorts of papers, is it just a receipt?

I don't even know where it is. Is the USCIS receipt number sufficient ( probably not )?

My lawyer wants another $ 2000.00 to prepare the paperwork for me. I say, screw him.

Any advice?

Contine with the existing I-130...its approved...you are almost there.

Besides, you are not a resident of Japan and cannot file directly with the US Consulate there.

Lawyers are good for filling out forms....sometimes!! I guess if you can't fill them out yourself, then pay him the 2 grand....I'm sure it will be nicely typed up.

You already have an I-130 approved so indeed, you're almost there. DCF is only for folks who have legal residence in the consular district, so your case does not apply. Hopefully you'll get your interview soon!!!!
