salam to eveyone,

after many emails , my fiance decided for send fax to embassy casablanca was telling them about what DOS said about check name was done and this stuff about AP, but he got yesterday email again from casablanca saying same :

Dear Mr. ........,

This email is in response to your written inquiry regarding the status of your fiancée’s case. Her case is still pending administrative processing in Washington, DC. Unfortunately this office has no authority over processing that occurs in the United States.

Each file is handled on a case by case basis so we cannot estimate how long it will take for the processing to be completed. Please be assured that Ms. ******’s case is being actively followed and that we will contact her as soon as the processing is complete.

so just waiting waiting waiting...... when ? we dont know  .

any way , every one have hard time and hard pain about AP, i hate it

Although DOS says processing there is completed. That means that request for THAT last check is done and it was returned to the embassy (electronically)...the embassy then has the right to order MORE testing. OR to do more checks there on their own. It is hard...Im sure. And not a process my fiance and I are looking foward to. Good luck.

You and me are in the same position...

Told by the Dept of State that the Embassy has the case.

At this point it is being reviewed by the Consulate officers there. They will decide whether to go forward and issue the visa - or - request more checking to be done. I am sure that you will be told nothing until they have made a decision on this.

Best of luck to you.

its just abou tthe most frustrating national/international problem in this whole damn world I am going nuts its been 6 months...thats 2/3rds the time it took to get to the interview day?!!!!!

I am not angry at God, no way because I am thankful for all my blessings but honestly this is just horrible

just give the damn visa its not gonna make a difference whether its been checked or not hwo can country and name determine future action?! I have been calm and cool about it but after the 6 month mark its safe to say you will go crazy

nothing i do gets my mind out of this bullshit my husband says wait patiently but he is breaking down

i KNOW people get their visas withing 2 weeks in many cases and they have VERY common names like ahmed i dont know whats going on and when the embassy will stop ordering checks just let it be why cant they stop at 1 why not do a MASS check?! why cant the fingerprints rule out all this name ####### its just i dont even know what to say anymore

of it wasnt for prayer and strong understanding of the virtues of patience I would be completly psychotic.

I wish us the best

Yes they do eventually issue the ivsa as soon as the name checks are done, the thing is it has to get clearance before visa can be issued. You should call DOS on thursdays and wait out the clearance. I know it is hard. Keep faith and Insha-Allah everything will be fine and you will be issued the visa in the coming days and weeks and months.

Administrative Processing, aka Administrative Review.

i know it is extensive in the MENA Countries... as well as Pakistan, Bangladesh...

i think it depends on the consulate and the case,

because i read in another thread that a woman's husband in Canada was in AP, too!!

There seems to be no rhyme or reason for it... just sheer, utter, unwarranted torture....

It could be the Embassy is sitting on the case.

I called the DOS and they said they sent the case back to the Embassy. Our case number showed up on the US Embassy website and then the request for the CV. We gave the CV to the Embassy.

I called the DOS again and asked if the Embassy asked for more checks. They said, "it's in AP." Then I asked, "I know the case went back to the Embassy, did the Embassy ask for more checks." The rep replied, "No it's in AP at the Embassy."

So it could be the Morrocan Embassy that is just sitting on the case and reviewing it. I wouldn't be surprised. I read the Morrocan Embassy is not the best to deal with.

AP/AR - Administrative Processing/Administrative Review

This comes after the interview. Once they determine the interview was a success, the consulate takes your fingerprints and name and sends it back to the Department of State in the US. The DOS then sends your fingerprints/name to various agencies (FBI, CIA and other agencies) to have them checked in their databases.

The time frame is a ####### shoot. For most European countries is goes relatively quickly. But for middle eastern & third world countries it can take longer. Months, even a year waiting.

That would be my husband. His case got "tagged" for additional security checks because he is a Ph.D. student in chemistry and the technology falls into the "technology alert list". Basically it means that most scientists or engineers will get more checks. The additional security checks took 2 months and he has his visa. Apparently these extra security checks are common for non-immigrant visas (particularly student or visiting scholar visas) and they are now applying these checks to immigrant visas also.

The actual time to completion seems random though. For some reason ours got done in two months.

Believe me, AP is a nightmare. My fiance is an English guy in his forties who has never been to the US before. We met in the UK and lived together there for 2 years until I had to return to the US for work purposes, never thinking this visa thing would take so long. He was interviewed in May 2007 (was told he had to get a 601 waiver, OK so he was a naughty boy almost 30 years ago) they then did a name check which took 4 months (he does NOT have a very common name). Name check and fingerprints eventually came back fine and then waiver was submitted to DHS. Waiver approved (yeah) 3 MONTHS AGO, and we are still waiting supposedly on another security check. What on earth is going on? He is not liable for CONDOR or MANTIS as he is not from a country of special interest and is not going to be employed in high tech or science.

I call the Embassy (very nice people) and the DOS number but none can or will say what is happening. We have not been able to see each other since October and we are slowly going insane. I had hoped we would get married this June but that's out of the window now.
