Obama responded to Clinton's ad in a speech to veterans in Houston today, according to prepared remarks. He accused her of playing on fear, and echoed his staff's retort that she's had, and blown, her red phone moment:

Now before we open this up for conversation, I just want to take a moment to respond to an ad that Sen. Clinton is apparently running today that asks, “Who do you want answering the phone in the White House when it’s 3 a.m. and something has happened in the world?”

We’ve seen these ads before. They’re the kind that play on peoples’ fears to scare up votes.

Well it won’t work this time. Because the question is not about picking up the phone. The question is — what kind of judgment will you make when you answer? We’ve had a red phone moment. It was the decision to invade Iraq. And Sen. Clinton gave the wrong answer. George Bush gave the wrong answer. John McCain gave the wrong answer.

...

And I’ll never see the threat of terrorism as a way to scare up votes, because it’s a threat that should rally this country around our common enemies. That’s the judgment we need at 3 a.m. And that’s the judgment that I am running for president to provide.

Via Politico, something Bill Clinton said on Oct 25 2004:

CLINTON: Now, one of Clinton's laws of politics is this. If one candidate is trying to scare you and the other one is try get you to think, if one candidate is appealing to your fears and the other one is appealing to your hopes, you better vote for the person who wants you to think and hope.

Nice response there. Just another plot that backfires on Hillary.

I would call it DESPERATION!

Hillary would call it "Karl Rove tactics" if it was Obama pulling such a stunt on her. Of course, she's allowed to use the fear mongering right out of Karl Rove's playbook. What a sad character.

She isnt even in his league when it comes to articulating a point. He powns her on an hourly basis. Its really quite amusing for me to watch it.

Her campaign has been trying to smear BO for "flip-flopping" on Iraq for a while now.

Apparently a person who was opposed to the thing to begin with, should not be funding it or encouraging troop surges subsequently.

Its pretty silly - apparently opposing a proposed policy means that you should have the exact same approach to it once that proposed policy becomes a concrete reality.

I mean, should he just pretend that the war didn't happen? It did happen - so logically you have to treat it as such.

B-I-N-G-O

We all know the political stigma involved in " not funding the troops " even though I'm sure Haliburton and Bush family connections are undoubtedly not contributing to helping fund the troops while we all foot the bill. Nevertheless, since a majority of Americans have passed judgement on such a foolhardy approach to foreign relations, I'd rationalize any Bush accusation against Bush policy as a blessing in disguise for anyone that cares to think it through.

Hillary has to take a chill-pill and prepare to support Obama as a presidential nominee as I am sure Obama is ready to do for Hillary if she gets the nomination.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

It could be the last thrashing in the water before the sinking completes... or it could be a warmup of a possible National race against JM. Either way, although I'd recommend for her health to take a chill-pill... its her perogative and it probably won't be detrimental to Obama's campaign whatsoever.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.
