My hubby received a K3 visa April 07 and it won't expire until April 09. His passport expires in March. I was going to send my hubby to renew his passport but after talking to some people they are telling me that you have to give up your current passport. So what happens with the visa they stick in the passport? Don't we need a valid passport for the AOS interview?

If anyone can shed some light it will be appreciated. Thanks.

You give up the passport only temporarily when renewing the passport, virtually all countries return the old passport with a corner cut off to invalidate it, when they issue a new one. They do this so that you still have records of trips, the visas, ect.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

When you get your new passport, they give you the old one back (the one with the valid visa)...you can then staple the old passport to the new passport so that you have a valid passport, along with a valid visa....
