So we finally got my wife's social security card. Above the number it states "allowed to work DHS.." i forgot how it really goes. We got married on Feb 2nd and then I was told that we had to wait about 30 business days to wait for our marriage certificate can be available to pick up/buy copies, which pretty much around March 14 or so. Her I-94 expires on April 13th. What can I do in the mean time? I saw some of the paper work that I need to enter our certificate number and/or send a copy.

Any advice about what to do next besides wait until I get our certificate?

There is nothing you can do until you have the marriage certificate.... if you try to send the AOS packet without the marriage certificate it will either be returned to you or you will get a RFE for the certificate....

Take the time to make sure all the forms are complete and that you have everything else ready to send.... You could try calling to see if you can get the certificate sooner... but dont worry about the expiry of the I-94... as long as you got married within 90 days of entry you are ok.... there is no deadline for filing for AOS....

Did you get the Vaccination Supplement from a civil surgeon? You could do that. Start adding your wife's name to things like bank account, credit card, insurance, utilities. Usually all they need is a SSN and not marriage certificate. Print up and fill out all the applications and put them all in order; make copies of all documents you need to send; make a cover letter for the packet; read and re-read all the instructions and the VJ AOS Guide to make sure you have it all. Believe me, that takes DAYS and DAYS to get straight! Then you can just fill in the numbers when you get the marriage certificate.

Visit the local office to see if the marriage certificate is available for pick-up. They will do it immediately for you once it is in their computer (which is usually within a week after the ceremony). They told me three weeks but I went 5 days later in person and got the certified copies within ten minutes!

Some people here in VJ said that they send a simple copy of the marriage certificate with the AOS and they had not problems. But in our case, we got personaly to the office to register the marriage certificate the same day that we got married and in 10 minutes we got a certified copy!
