London: Time between Medical and Interview?

I did some searching, but couldn't find what I was looking for, so I'll just ask.

My fiancee has her medical appointment for Monday morning. She's sending off her checklist tomorrow though, to let the embassy know she's essentially ready for the interview.

About how long should we expect to wait till they tell her to come in and be interviewed?

Typically its about 4 - 6 weeks to get Packet 4. Sometimes less.

I was told by the Embassy to allow 2-8 weeks, but my interview date is a month to the day, (11th Feb - 11th Mar), since my medical.

I want to get my medical/interview around the same date so I am going to book the med for I think mid-April... does that sound about right? And is it possible to change either the medical or interview or both so they are closer if I need to? I can't believe I still haven't done it but then I have been pretty busy

Choosing a date for the medical should be no problem whatsoever, I called the number in the Packet 3 to make my appointment while in the USA and they allowed me to choose my own date! I wouldn't change the interview date if I were you though as any rescheduled appointment could well be many weeks or even more later than the original date and you would have limited input as to when it would be. Rather if I was in your position, I'd just wait until I got the Packet 4 from the Embassy containing the interview date and then make the medical for the same day. This shouldn't be an issue with regard to delaying the visa being issued unduly, although it will not be released to you until after the medical results are sent to the Embassy and processed, (typically around 3-4 days).

Oh yeah I am not concerned about the visa pending medical results - am I able to return packet 3 if I don't arrange a medical yet though as there is space on the form thing to say I have booked it?

You could still return the packet 3 using the IV15 form as this part is encompassed by "Step Two" of the process in the introductory paragraphs of the instruction and Step 3 is the medical. While there is a check box for the medical in Step 2, I just ticked it anyway, even though I hadn't had the medical at that point, (granted in my case it was already scheduled, but I just took it as an acceptance that I agreed to have one). "Step three" is the medical examination itself, so I'm sure you can complete Step 2 and return the Packet 3 right away.

You can send in packet 3 without having booked the medical yet.

If you want to schedule the interview and medical on the same day then I would wait for packet 4 and an interview date, then arrange the medical. The medical can be arranged just a week in advance, highly unlikely that you would receive less than a weeks notice for the interview unless you requested it.

Well... I did some calculations today off a year's worth of London embassy VJ timelines (I included all those who had an interview date scheduled or passed) because I needed to know precisely the same thing.

I calculated the average time between returning Packet 3 to London and the interview itself. The average worked out at 49 days over the past year and 42 days for 2008 filers who had interviews scheduled. This figure sits well with what the majority are saying here (4-6 weeks). However, it is worth noting that packet 3 to interview has been as little as 14 days but this is unusual.

For Jeraly: Medical appointments seem easy to obtain. I have booked mine because I specifically wanted to be able to write firm dates on the IV-15. I do want to make a single trip to London, if possible, so if the interview does not coincide with the medical I am going to try and reschedule the medical. If they won't let me do that then I will stomach two trips. I am running up against a few deadlines (on receiving the NOA2 we finally made some firm plans for our wedding) and am not sure whether it will work out. If I was in your position though I would do what Darren suggested. It should be fairly simple to book your medical and interview for the same day.

Hmm - ok on the IV-15 form I have to put in the medical date before I sign it - if I leave this blank will that cause a problem? I have put in "TBA" right now and not ticked the box but will this prevent them from sending me my interview date?

No, you can leave it blank and they will schedule the interview. Because I was in a rush for an interview I actually did schedule the medical. When I found the interview was 4 days after I just phoned Knightsbridge doctors and rescheduled the medical to two days before. It was no hassle at all, I have had good experiences with them so far.

You probably would want to ensure they were the same day so I would leave the medical date blank and as soon as you find out from DOS when the interview is scheduled make your medical appointment.

Jeraly, that's what I put on mine too, I just wrote 'to be confirmed' in the space and that was fine
