Yes, good luck!

NVC hasn't received and assigned a case number to our petition yet. As if I really expectd it to be quick.

Started my new job today. Just paperwork and orientation stuff so far, but it's all good. It's the first time in forever that I spent the day sitting at work, and not standing on my feet for eight hours. And I didn't come home smelling like espresso!

And it's only one day until he comes to visit us!!! A little in-person time is definitely what we both need to get us through till the end. Even though I will miss him terribly when he leaves, things will be much more bearable for sure. :luv:

Well, I have good news and bad news....

The good news is Darren was approved at the interview. The bad news is that the approval is PENDING until we send them a new police certificate.

When we sent in our petition in January, we checked the embassy website for the particulars of what we would need at the interview. On the website, it said that we had to get a police certificate, which we did. Only they neglected to say which police certificate to get. When we received our NOA2 so quickly, we were relieved that we already started the ball rolling on gathering documents for the interview.

But then, we started to see some concerns come up on the UK forum about a new police certificate. It was quite expensive (70 pounds), but there was some confusion to which police report use. So we looked on the website (and checked there often) and it said (and STILL says, I might add) that if your interview was scheduled before April 15th (which we were) that if the police certificate was less than six months old (which it was) and your interview occurred before August 15th, everything would be okay. Well, it wasn't...

We will have to pay an additional 70 pounds (about 135 dollars) and wait. Time was never the motivating factor; he wasn't able to come right over. It's just the feeling that the U.S. government seems to be squeezing every last penny out of us that they can.

But, at the end of the day, we are approved, even if we have to wait a little longer, and I am ecstatic at that!!!

Thanks you for all the well-wishes!!!

Congratulations!

I thought the £70 fee was only if you wished to receive it within 2 days? Everything else I've seen has said it's £35 and you'll receive it within 10 days. If he doesn't need to come over immediately, is that the better option?

They really should've been clearer on the requirements; I'm sure many people have been placed in the same situation as you and it's not fair!

congrats Dawn and Darren, I know that stuff about the police certificate, people were saying the old one would be ok but i went for the new one because I wasnt confident about that.

You have been approved and thats the main thing, it depends how quickly you want the certificate I paid £35 and had it in 7 days.

Congrats again and at least the interview is over.

Congratulations Dawn and Darren....

the new police report is 35 pounds but if you want it in 2-3 days it 70 pounds.... we did the 35 pounds one and it came in 5 days so I'm not sure if its really worth paying double just to get it an extra 2 days faster since you're not traveling right away.

Congratulations Dawn & Darren!

I'm sorry about the police certificate. I know he wasn't planning on coming straight away anyway but it's still very frustrating that nobody seems to know/do their job anymore!

Hope he's here soon!

Congrats on the approval! I'm sorry about the police cert part - at least it's something minor that can be quickly addressed. Can you tell us about the actual interview?? What kind of questions they asked, etc. Liam is getting a bit nervous - he thinks they're going to quiz him on my 4 siblings names and dates of birth or something. haha. :) We'll be submitting packet 3 on Monday and requesting our interview date during my visit to Australia.

I bet the ACPO lobbied the US embassy to force on them the usage of the new (MORE EXPENSIVE) certificate. They saw there was lots of requests so why not, how to turn an easy buck! I see no reason why the old one is not good enough, other than to squeeze you out of more $$... That's truly deplorable: I can't believe the real cost of printing an access request is 30 quid. Can't take longer than 1 minute, including printing time, and posting. Perhaps someone at the US embassy at the end of the year gets some free tickets to cricket matches or something...

Well, I have good news and bad news....
