AOS VS CONSULATE PROCESSING

K3 petition for my wife is alerady been processed by the overseas consulate and our I-130 was just approved yesterday. We are expecting interview date sometime in June for the K3 visa. Is it better to send her back to the native country for her CRL processing or we should file AOS after she comes to US. Any input would greatly be appreciated. I want to find out all the pros and cons of both approaches before making the decision.

I'm interested in hearing the pros & cons myself. My husband & I have been debating about this, since we'll be using the K3 to get to the US quicker.

I've seen people posting that the process takes longer if you AOS, but I haven't seen any specifics given. Can anyone give us an idea of how much longer it would be if we did AOS instead of coming back to the UK for the interview?

You can look at the timeline for your District Office and see how sharp they tend to be with I-485. It's not a 100% indication, so you should watch it over time. In addition, look at the timelines for other people from your DO and see how long it took them to get their AOS complete. Again, not an accurate prediction of the future, buuuut....

Then do the same for the London IV interviews.

Factor in the need to work and how long an EAD *might* take you. Add the expense/ability for a trip 'home' and the desire for one in the aprox timeframe. In a longer shot, think about how important naturalization or even status as a PR is for him (job prospects, sponsoring family etc). The sooner he becomes a PR, the sooner those benefits are available to him.

I'm a fan of getting the IV, myself. I've read too many stories of AOS woes to make it look attractive to me. One person's opinion, nothing more.
