I know how you feel and think its BS. We filed at the CSC in October and still waiting. They raised the fees in July then said it was to hire 1500 new employees but it didnt make it any faster. They dont care about us and the ones we love. Our country spends 100's billions od dollars on a war that should have never been started. The housing market has crashed (I lost 90,000 on my house already) and the American dollar is worth less then Canada for the first time in 50 years. We have a stupid president to top it off. Point is our country is screwed in so many ways. We see approvals in less then 2 months at the NVC and over 6 months at the CSC. They need to open the Texas again to help with CSC. Anyway like everyone says we have no choice.

By raising the fees, they had to hire more people because there was a huge surge in the amount of petitions filed to beat the fee increase. It almost like the "which came first, the chicken or the egg" question. You can't hire more staff if the money is not there to pay them, Hence the fee increase. But before you can hire more people, visa applications sky rocket flooding the case workers, causing big delays for everyone. Do you think that those 1500 NEW employees are just going sit down and work just as fast as a veteran case worker? Their going to have questions on how to do things or process things. Part of the delay is US, the filers. Once the new staff gets familiar with the process and they work through the huge amount of "fee beater" petitions then they should speed up.

You can't just blame the gub'ment for everything even though they do some stupid stuff. I hope your approval comes soon, but we are all waiting... right there with you....

Administration is administration everywhere! Its not only USCIS.

To come in the US with my daughter I need a legal paperwork who prove that her father agree.

Our lawyer sent the request to have an appointment with the judge the same day that the I-129 was sent to the USCIS.

I received the appointment date, yesterday. It will be on May 5th.

3 months, and my father's daughter and I are OK, i can't imagine if we're not.

and BTW, i know that immigration in France is not easy too.

I like to think of it as the Year of struggle to be with the person I love. We have planned out visits during the year and have made ourselves busy to help keep our minds off the wait.

In my case, if I am lucky I will have my NOA 2 by June at the speed the CSC is going at. Yes, that sounds like a long time but when you are busy and doing other things the time really goes by fast.

Also, look at it like this. You will have the rest of your life with that person, that could be 30 to 60 years. That is a long time. One year out of all of those years really isn't that big of a deal.

So sink your teeth in and hang on, that is all we can do.

Yes it suck!!!!!!! Knowing that our applications will be adjudicated in MAY 14 based on VJ timelines while we file mid november... grrrr!!!! They seriously need to do some work...

Don't put a lot of stock in the VJ timelines right now. They are out of whack from the June and July filer surge. It's gonna be a few months before they're accurate again. A better indicator is Igor's stats.

According to

http://apps.pirates.go.com/pirates/v3/welcome

It appears the average wait is 5 to 6 months.

Sounds about right.... Meaning the process really requires 9-11 Months.

Or in my case I could be with my fiance on November of this year.

Hmmm...had no idea Johnny Depp was an authority on K-1 immigration.  (don't worry, I've done it before too. :) )

Expect to see waiting times get down to around 3 months though. Not right away, but it will happen as USCIS recovers from the June/July filer fiasco and they bring on more manpower.

It comes and goes too.....you can never really predict who which service center will be faster in any given month. Luck of the draw.

Hang in there.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Hope I'm not interrupting. Julia Preston at the New York Times is doing great work on immigration. Why don't you contact her? I'm an ex-journalist (and involved in a K1 visa application) and just submitted an oped to the LA Times. The more press this issue gets, the better.

As far as these people needing the money from these egregiously high fees to operate, why don't they get appropriations from Congress? God knows the Bush Administration cares about so-called Homeland Security (and apparently nothing else).

Yeah it is very tough, but what you have is each other - hang on to that and it will be all good. Not trying to get into comparisons, but the last time I saw my lady was Nov 6th 2006 at 1.37pm (It was a Tuesday if anyone is interested)

If you dont have a webcam, get one. To see your future partners eyes light up when you tell em you love them, will work wonders in getting you through this sucky time

I sent one of those internal NYT emails to Julia Preston. I hope to receive a reply soon.

I believe something should be done to relieve the load of work on the CSC areas (which I noticed are the high-volume immigration states; AZ, CA, WA, OR etc.) but until then, I guess we cannot do anything but wait.

Oh and one more thing, if you're looking to send an email to Ms. Preston, here's how. Just click on the little link in the page that says "Send an E-Mail toJulia Preston".

Thanks for the info.... I've also mailed Ms. Preston!

I received a message from Julia Preston:

Dear Perlin: You raise an interesting issue about the difference between processing times in Vermont and California. I believe the California center may be overwhelmed with naturalization applications, but I am not sure. Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention and for your kind words -- and for reading The New York Times. Best regards, Julia
