How long to get a credit card?

Yes, they approved his card after he started working but he used my income as well, so our combined income was pretty good.

I say apply at different places until on of them approves you. People say that store credit cards are easier to get. I just didn't want to go that route because I didn't want to have to use the card to get stuff we don't need. With his Visa credit card we can now buy groceries and get gas and pay it off at the end of the month.

Thanks for your prompt reply diana. That is my concern because they might not approve me since I am not working yet though my hubby's income will do so fine. I also don't like to apply yet as I don't like my credit report to be reflecting a lot of inquiries which the least that I need now since I am still in the process of building up my credit history. Anyway, I do appreciate your suggestion though. I will just have to wait until I start working to make sure that they will not reject my application

i am getting rejected here, there and everywhere i have a job. i have savings. i have no credit history in the US. this is tough.

have you tried Capital One? I've tried applying and got approved. i'm still looking for job and have no credit history.
