Have any of you guys who got EAD approved start job hunting yet??........My interest is in the accounting field I send a couple resume online....I found the PERFECT!! job that I want with a renown marketing company as an acounting executive!!...the pay is awesome!! they called me yesturday, but I told them I havent received my work card yet....they said to call as soon as I get my card to set up an interview because I'm exactly what they are looking for!!...Im not gonna keep my hopes up on that one Im gonna keep searching!!! mama always say: "never put all your eggs in one basket"

I have started already, I'm a Graphic Designer and I also used to work as a University Lecturer, but unfortunately I need the EAD in hand but also a driver's license and therefor a car. No vehicle no job

Today I found a perfect job but it was 45 minutes away... However I have been sending my resume to a few places... I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Hopefully we are gonna be getting something soon! I miss my job in England sooo much!

I know what you saying!! No car no job , ......the job that I want is only 15mins away form the base so if I get it I can take taxi cause my husband and I would have crazy schedules besides he'll be gone by August so I would be on my own to get back and forth!.... so that Drivers License is very imperative!!!!..........................good luck!!

I've been doing my homework while waiting for the actual work card. Back in the Philippines, I used to hold a technical position in a prestigious national government agency. So, I would like to get a federal job however this wouldn't be possible since most government jobs require U. S citizenship. Most likely, I want a job that has something to do with administrative support. I used to work with high-ranking government officials back in my country so something like admin support to top executives would be challenging. Apparently, I continue to send out resumes to prospective employers and so far I've received quite a few job offers but I still want to keep on searching for a company where my skills are effectively utilized. In time, we will end up into something we enjoy doing and most importantly will provide as with the opportunity to flourish and will bring the best within us. Good luck to our search!

Your right Rhosie!! it's hard to get a Federal Job if your not a USC....I was searching online and I found this Federal job in Denver as an Accounting Technician/Lead Accounting Technician/Accounts Maintenance Clerk (OA) that pay 89,000 + a year so when I called for the requirements as the website didnt state, they say I have to be an USC to even be recognized for the position! bummer!!! Just keep searching and GOOD LUCK!!

Yeah, same here. I saw a job online with the Department of Homeland Security - a division under DHS is in need for people that will provide clerical and administrative support in the processing of forms and applications used in the adjudication and adjustment of status of aliens. Also, performs tasks related to Naturalization ceremonies, including the scheduling, preparation and distribution of certificates and retrieval of documentation from applicants. Unluckily, when I tried to inquire about the requirements and accordingly they will only entertain U.S citizens for this position. Well, it's always worth a try though and for sure that will never hinder me to keep looking. I am just taking my time and just keeping with the challenge. I'm all for the challenge anyway.

By looking at the feb filers, i dont thing i will receive my ead till about the twenty-something of this month, i doubt I will be transfered since I filed the I-130 and the I-485 seperately.

But thats OK, I have been practicing my typing trying to get to 35-40 words per minute, and I am will be taking a first aid cpr class, and I finished dental assisting school.

So iam trying to not be negative and just take all this extra time to build up a resume

What are somethings that you guys have done to be competitive in the work search?? any ideas will be appreciated

Nana, what program are you currently using to learn typing? I am using MAVIS BEACON TEACHES TYPING 8. I got this CD for cheap ($1 usd) in a resale store and when I started to try it lately I find it very useful. Also, I used a lot of other helpful stuff that's easily accessible online. Anyway, good luck to you and wish you could beat that goal and be able to type even faster.

I use a program called turbotyping, i think it is excelent, I stareted off as 11wpm and in 3 weeks I am now 34wpm, my goal was 35 wpm, But now i fuguere why stop, the more the better.

But good luck with you on the nursing program, your caring heart would be perfect for that workfield

Congratulations Kursst on getting approved. , In your timeline, it says on April, 2nd you received an email that AP & EAD is approved. You probably meant May 2nd thought I point that out. Anyway, good luck with the rest of your journey.

I started yesterday... in my country I worked for British Embassy as a military interpreter/personal assistant (Russian-English), so I am applying for the same position here too + found opened position in British Consulate here… so applied as well.... as for personal assistant skills- there are more chances... but we will see.. I am going to work even as an associate in a mall or may be in Starbucks, as they have very good social package... planning to work anywhere while looking for the job of my dream I was a volunteer here in entertainment company (as a personal assistant as well) so hopefully potential employers will notice it ... I wish everyone good luck with job hunting and let's keep in touch

Nice to hear good news from all!!!

Today I got my Driving license!! And i applied a job which was posted in craigslist.com as a assistant engineer. They called me for interview and I was selected. I am going to start my job as soon as i get my Work Permit.
