Ok guys! So I tried my luck at the Social Security office to see if they would issue me the SSN, but as I predicted I have to wait for the Work Permit.

I also went to the DMV and to apply for a driver's license I will have to wait for the Work Permit as well. However they did inform me since I'm older than 18 years of age I won't be needing the Learner's Permit which is cool...

No more touches or anything as for now... The waiting continues...

I'm back from Vegas....hopefully I can get my rfe stuff sent in today!

My inlaws (who are the joint household sponsor) are gone away for a week but they left the letter and 6 months of paystubs...so hopefully thats all we need!

Congratulations!!! But how did you find this message??? you just clicked on receipt number online from your UCSIC account??? Because we are going to send everything back (RFE) this week, but when they sent us RFE it still was saying - "Case received and pending"???

Elmira, yes I found out the current status by clicking on my I-485 receipt number within my portfolio on USCIS website. Although, USCIS did update the status with request for evidence issued. If we had not received the snail mail, we probably will have been seating in the dark going nuts as to why there was no movement on our case. Anyway, we're grateful that someone cared enough to do their job by updating the status after receiving the rfe reply. Also, we received an email around the same time stating the same that rfe was received and case processing has resumed. I hope this helps you in regards to what to expect when you eventually respond to their request for evidence.

I am just wondering if anyone has been transferred to CSC without receiving and email?? and for those of you who did recieve an email, what does your case status say online? does it still say received and pending at the National service center or has your on-line status been updated to say it is being serviced at the California service center??? I am just wondering because we had touches on our account before and after biometrics but have not received and email about any transfer. Maybe we have just not been transferred but back in the K-1 process, when we got our NOA2 approval, we were never notified by email - ever!

and on this note, what happens if we are never transferred to CSC?? is everyone transferred eventually (we are in Seattle) or do some go all the way thru the process at the National Service center??? If we haven't been transferred by 1 week after biometrics are we likely not to be transferred at all?? thanks for any input!

Our case has been transferred to CSC last March 25 and we were informed about the said transfer through snail mail & email. It stated that our case is now pending at the office to which it was transferred. Hope this helps.

Hello....my understanding is that the cases are either transferred to CSC, where most are not required to have an interview, OR they are transferred to your local office, where you will be scheduled an interview....nobody really knows the science behind whether you are transferred to CSC or not but some have speculated that it has something to do with the backlog of cases at your local office....it is also my understanding that the email communication is extremely unreliable (some get it, some don't) and what really matters is the snail mail....

Vegas was ok....I would never recommend going there when your pregnant....people are drinking and partying.....I was tired from the walking and feeling pregnant....I was so worried I was going to look fat not pregnant...but i definitly looked pregnant....it was sooo great to see my parents I hadn't seen them since july I cried like a baby when we left!

almost been in US for 2 months now and i still cant get a SSN because the dickhead at the airport entered my year of birth wrong and now i have to wait and wait for them to correct their own fricken mistake

We got the biometrics appointment letter yesterday. April 23 @ 1:00. If you also want to add that our packet was recieved at Chicago on 3/28, that's cool too!

ugh! the reason my I485 case isn't available online yet is because i have an RFE. Got a letter that I should send the I-693 (medical) along with the I485. I didnt submit it yet because I read somewhere (another forum) that you can bring it on your interview day, as someone failed to submit it and got a letter from USCIS that she can just bring it on her interview date.

I guess this is a good thing though, as it shows that USCIS is now well organized on processing our cases...
