I am from Dallas, Texas and I went to the Department of Public Transportation's Office to inquire about getting a state ID or driver's license when I still have an unexpired I-94. They told me that I couldn't get it not until I have my EAD or greencard. They informed me with the requirements needed and sadly enough I can't show any to prove my eligibility. I've tried, learned and so I've waited. Anyway, with the process quickly moving it won't be long that I will be able to get it. With regards to getting a learner's permit I still have to validate the information from the concerned office. My hubby told me that based on his personal knowledge & experience, I no longer need to get a learner's permit for as long as I know how to drive and pass all the tests then I can just go and apply for a driver's license. Well, as stated, we need to validate this information and find out if it still holds true. While waiting for the EAD and GC I have done so well with my DL handbook readings and have taken quite a number of practice tests & luckily got perfect scores in all the practice tests. So, I think I am ready for the written part but still have to refresh my driving since its been years that I haven't driven and driving here is so much different from driving in a small town.

Today was hubbys Biometrics Appt in ATL... it was only 27 miles from home but there was terrible thunderstorms and heavy rains on the highway so we left at 715am... got there in one hour time. There was already alot of people there by 815am today. I went in for a brief second and the security guy told me I couldnt stay inside the building. It went OK for Adam. They took his fingerprints i think 2 times bcz of a finger on his hand was too dry and he had to write his name 3 times on that electronic pad bcz he said the pen kept messing up. The security officer told him that was his last time to write his name. :blush: then they photographed him and he said his hair was a mess... then the officer decided to be nice towards the end and give him a paper to fill out about how his service was today... bwahahhaha and a hispanic speaking lady thought Adam was hispanic and was trying to ask him how to fill out her paper but he didnt have a clue was she asked so he just said... FILL out the paper and put it in the box... :innocent: Well... glad to be out of the rain and home now... we just wait for the work permit i guess...

I'm a USC married to a french man who has been living in Canada for about 20 years.

March of 2005 -Met each other by chance in in Niagara Falls

April of 2005- after a ton of emails, arranged to meet in Montreal, now it's really getting exciting

May of 2005- tons of emails, he comes to visit Kentucky- we are so in love

In between visits to Toronto and KY, we go to Honduras, Montreal, Vancouver for vacations.

Sept 1, 2007 -Back and forth visits in between, IM and Skype, now we take the plunge and get married. We are so happy and my family and friends love him as much as I do!

March 25, 2008- Mailed out the I-130... finally!!!

April 4, 2008- Received the NOA1!!!

Sept. 2008 We went to Paris and the south of France (our 1st anniversary spent here) to visit my new family- with a quick peek at Spain. I love his mom and his son!

Just received a notice that we are moved to the CSC! I hear that is very good news! The date on the letter is Nov. 5.

Called and told about change of address (in Canada) for beneficiary 12-22-08

Jan 11 2009 -Receipt of AOS Fee payment.

Feb 5- emailed DS-3032 and mailed the hard copy.

Feb 11- received confirmation email for DS-3032

March 29- 2009 Online payment of IV fee

Jan 11, 2010- husband spoke with NVC- still haven't received DS-230... she said since we paid online that we won't receive a package- just download forms- she sent him link to instructions via email.

I am from Dallas, Texas and I went to the Department of Public Transportation's Office to inquire about getting a state ID or driver's license when I still have an unexpired I-94. They told me that I couldn't get it not until I have my EAD or greencard. They informed me with the requirements needed and sadly enough I can't show any to prove my eligibility. I've tried, learned and so I've waited. Anyway, with the process quickly moving it won't be long that I will be able to get it. With regards to getting a learner's permit I still have to validate the information from the concerned office. My hubby told me that based on his personal knowledge & experience, I no longer need to get a learner's permit for as long as I know how to drive and pass all the tests then I can just go and apply for a driver's license. Well, as stated, we need to validate this information and find out if it still holds true. While waiting for the EAD and GC I have done so well with my DL handbook readings and have taken quite a number of practice tests & luckily got perfect scores in all the practice tests. So, I think I am ready for the written part but still have to refresh my driving since its been years that I haven't driven and driving here is so much different from driving in a small town.

that what happend to me,i went with my wife to get ID for me ,my I-94 had just one week left in it,so the employee there told me that if i want the ID they would give me one that would expire after 1 week like my I-94 ,so i ended up without getting it.i am waitting till i get the EAD then i will apply for a driver licence and an ID if i want it too.good luck

My husband and I live in Arkansas, and they let him to take the written test with passport and unexpired I-94..But before that, the officer who's giving the test asking for my husband permanent residence card or EAD, and I told him he does not have one yet and his AOS just got sent..he said he cannot get the driver license until he got that..I argue with him and etc.etc..etc...i think i'm aggressive enough so he called somebody about the situation..after the phone call, he let him to take the test with just the passport and I-94..Oh well..just sharing my experience..sometimes, you have to be aggressive to explain your part..sometimes, it really depends on the state..anyway, he passed the driving written test, and we need to wait for at least 30 days to take the road test for new driver..if my husband driver license is out of state, he does not need to wait for 30 days to get the driver license..they don't consider Philippines driver license here in Arkansas..I don't know about other state..Goodluck to everybody!!

Got the biometrix letter this week...it is schedule for April 15th....conveniently, a Tuesday morning....I'm in Chicago, they sent me to the ASC on Cumberland Ave....does anyone here know if this office will allow me to do a walk-in next Saturday? I would prefer not to miss work over this...

Exactly!!! This what they asked me first.. and woman in front of me failed at this test!!! anyway.. I wish everyone good luck for this week. :) We still didn't get any letter from karif's ex-employer.. and if nothing this week we will send everything we have (2007 tax papers + present emplyer verification letter and pay stubs) ... as we don't want this RFE to be hanging anymore ;)
