I can't wait for Griff's case to move forward! The check was cashed Wed., so we're anticipating some movement in the next few weeks. It will be so good for him to be able to get working, just to alleviate the boredom. He got the stamp at JFK, but the 90 dyas just isn't enough time to bother trying to find a job, ya know?

Yeah it could maybe be worth it if it went like...arrival one day, wedding the next day and the third day you start working :) But that´s not how it goes. At least most people don´t rush like that. Me personally...I wouldn´t like to be getting married the next day after the arrival.

Unless I had to cuz everything was already planned and booked and we received the K1 really late and there was no other choice :)

Its cool that you could change your biometrics so easily!

I agree finding a job with this temp EAD is so so hard it is best just to wait it out...

just wanted to drop by and say that biometics in Seattle-CHECK! had it yesterday, was quick and easy. Although just to rant, the $5 cash only to park in at USCIS just about sent me over the edge....I know its stupid, but when will they ever stop sucking money out of me and make something freaking simple????? I realize I am being a bit irrational here, and we were way early to the appointment and had plenty of time to go in search of a cash machine, but we had spent the last of our cash at Starbucks on the way down and simply didn't have $5 in hand for parking! so we had to find an ATM - gas station so $2 fee to use the stupid thing - and then go back to park. of course there is no where else to park there so you have to use the pay lot! I was honestly stunned....the office is NOT in the middle of the city (where its all pay parking) but way out in the suburbs and it just seemed like a ridiculous money maker and inconvenience! once again, I would have no issues paying the money for any of this process if it were timely, clear, fair, etc etc. but its not! at least use that $5 per car to hire more people, maybe at CSC, and cut people a freaking break!!!! I was just visiting the old July Filers Threads for K1 (my former home) and am stunned to see some people still waiting for NOA2! It was heart breaking. okay.....enough ranting! this thread is so lovely and positive I won't ruin the vibe anymore

On a better note, the actual biometrics was fine. We took way too much documentation with us (Marriage cert, all the NOA's for AOS, the appointment letter, passport, state ID, and SS card) I am always glad to be over prepared though! We ended up only needed the state ID (or passport for ID), the appointment letter, the SSN and his A# for the worksheet you fill out when you get there. Just by the by for those who have not had biometics yet - you do fill out another sheet of paperwork that asks for your Social security # and your Alien Registation #, so I ended being really glad I grabbed to social security card and took it with us!

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend!

Sara

So, all that done, here is hoping EAD is on its way sooooooooooon!!!!! savings are dwindling!!!!

That must have sucked with the parking....

Well we didn´t take the SS card with us cuz it wasn´t written in the appointment letter...I thought I remembered the number already but wasn´t 100% sure so I just left it blank and noone said anything. After all they have the SS number on the original paperwork we submitted :)

I was thinking that same thing! that they don't tell you to bring the SS card on the appointment letter....so I figured a lot of people must leave it blank and I know some folks have gone through biometics before getting the SSN at all and have been fine. just thought I would pass it along to others :)

and yes....the parking thing did suck....although I must take responsibility for my over the top reaction :bonk: not really worth getting that worked up over.....its just the bigger picture of it all, you know?? truth be told, our process has been pretty smooth given we filed during the whole fee change mess, I just wish it was smooth for everyone!

I still don't have my SSN and the only thing I filled in was my A# since that is the only information I could see on the NOA. I mentioned this to the guys in reception and he told me it was ok. Hopefully things will be fine ;)

AND HOPE EVERYBODY HAS AN AWESOME WEEKEND!!!

You don't need to wait for your EAD to get a driver's license. You just have to take the tests...most states it's both the written and the driving test.

Really? I was checking on the DMV- California website and they mention the following:

To apply for an original driver license if you are over 18, you will need to do the following:

• Visit a DMV office (make an appointment for faster service)

• Complete application form DL 44 (An original DL 44 form must be submitted. Copies will not be accepted.)

• Give a thumb print

• Have your picture taken

• Provide your social security number. It will be verified with the Social Security Administration while you are in the office.

• Verify your birth date and legal presence

• Provide your true full name

• Pay the application fee

• Pass a vision exam

• Pass a traffic laws and sign test. There are 36 questions on the test. You have three chances to pass.

So now I'm a bit confused. I still don't have my SSN since I'm waiting for my EAD card to apply for one and the only way I have of verifying my legal presence as for the time being is to show my NOA's and I don't think they would take those...

Any suggestions? It could be nice to get this done and out of the way since I have the time now.

THANKS SO MUCH!

Well why are you waiting for your EAD to go apply for SSN? You can apply for SSN after 2 weeks from your arrival to USA. (In my case they told me after 30 days though but I know everyone else was able to do it after the 2 weeks.) For to get the SSN you need to show your passport with your K1 entry stamp in it to show them that you are here legally and proof of marriage (marriage certificate). So you get that and with SSN you can apply for the driver´s license. If your K1 stamp expires pretty soon though they most likely won´t send you the driver´s license untill you get your green card. But they still might let you do the tests. That´s how I did it. Anyway I have an international driver´s license, so I don´t care that they send me my CA one later...

Oh ok...if your I-94 is expired then yeah I guess you have to wait for EAD..
