Hello all:

if i want to include some letters from ppl that have known us as a couple, do they need to be all formal and notarized? some of my fiance's family speaks english, in that case can they just write their letters in english or do they need to be written in Arabic than transcribed in english? Have any of you used such letters? i wonder if they are at all helpful??

thanks!

We used letters from my parents and had them notorized. Usually letters of testimony should be notorized to prove who signed//wrote them. don't know if it helped...but we did it.

We didn't use any letters but it certainly can't hurt. I would think if you do use them they should at least be in English. Good luck on your journey.

We didn't use letters in our initial petition, but if I had thought of it I would have. My husbands visa was initially denied, and because of this we used letters in our reply to the Notice of Intent to Revoke. I do believe these are very helpful, especially in the case of relationships with red flags. We did have ours notorized, and we included contact info in case they wanted any clarification. We had those in Morocco write theirs, and have it translated and given their official stamp. It must have helped, my hubby got his visa.

No, they don't have to be notarized, as they are not required to begin with. If it were me, I would have them translated at a minimum though.

Your right, its not a requirement, but it would testify to the identity of the writer. Otherwise any Joe Shmoe could write it and put down family name. I would do it just to be safe, but then again I went through the worst, and perhaps I just expect it at this point.
