Congrats on the AP Heather!

My AOS was transferred to CSC but I think it's been transferred back to the local office because the message changed on the 01/26/09. But maybe I'm wrong and it's still there.

Congrats indeed on the AP, Heather :D

Well.. seems I got good news also... I just received my welcome letter :D

"WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA"

it says, further is added:

"This is to notify you that your application for permanent residence has been approved. It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to permanent resident status in the United States."

The letter came right on schedule with the time that the statistics basically showed.. the most people got their welcome letters 8 days after the interview. My green card will arrive within 3 weeks, the letter says, but from what I have seen in the statistics, I might actually welcome it within a week (I hope so because I want to fly to the Netherlands in April or May and then I can book a flight without any stress hehe).

Hey, congrats on your "welcome letter"! :)

I am sure you will receive your GC in less than the 3 weeks said. It took a week for me. And yes, having you GC before your travel would be great!! I had the chance to have it for my trip, and it did make my way back to the States less stressful!! :P

Heather, congrats on your AP!! :)

My case was transfered to CSC too, and like you can see on my timeline, it took 4 months from there to received my GC. I hope that your case move along smoothly, so does Cécile's one! I hope they gonna start waking up, and move some files along!!

I've just been done with a crazy busy week at work! It actually feels great to be working, and it made my "transition back in the US" really easy!!

Congrats again Jeroen!

My parents finally bought a webcam! So far we mainly talked via MSN but only typing because apparently they don't like to talk with the microphone, they find that weird (but it's not so different than a phone, isn't it? :P ) And this weekend they decided to buy a webcam. Which is even stranger because if they don't like to talk with a microphone I find it strange that they want to talk with a microphone + a camera. Oh well, at least I got to see them yesterday for a few minutes, it was nice. I had seen them only once or twice since I left, when my sister was back home and had her webcam.

The bad thing is that their computer is old, it only has USB 1.1 and 256Mb of memory, and their Internet connection is kind of slow. So the sound I receive isn't smooth and I have to make them repeat at least half of what they say.

But still, it's kind of cool :D

Oh! you must be so happy! :)

My parents don't have a computer at all, so I usually talk to them over the phone, or see them from my sister's web-cam.(but usually they just stare at me, and don't dare talk through the web-cam!! )

The connection thing must be annoying! It sometimes happens to me when I am with my sister, and usually we end up calling each other so we don't have to repeat every 2 sentences! :P

Anyways, I find it cute that your parents are trying something they might find "weird" for a little bet, but they do it still so they can see you! :)

Thanks Pam & Cécile :D

And you're so right Cécile, talking to your parents over the webcam is cool indeed.. My mom knew that me and my wife (fiance at the time) were talking through Skype with voice and video and she really wanted to do that too, so every other week we have a few hours that we talk online over Skype, my daughter is then also at my moms and sometimes my sis also.. we also use it to unwrap presents at, for example, birthdays or like xmas last time.. that way we're together even though we're not together.. other than that it is usually email contact.

But yah, like Pam said, it's really cute, and also cool, that they try things that they kind of think is weird to do but still do it because they want to see you.

Parents, got to love them :D
