Yeah! I barely drove on snow in France...so it is a challenge now to know it is going to be like that every winter!

I see my fiancé being just fine driving through a snow storm (like 3 days ago ), but I need to de-stress and practice little by little!

The good thing for us is that we bought a SUV last summer with the 4 wheel drive, so it helps a lot, comparing to a sedan type of car. :P

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

Sorry I have not been around lately.

Good to hear things are progressing well for you, Cecile! What a shame your EAD was approved so quickly, though. ;)

Not snowy here, of course. Been very sunny, although quite chilly at times.

Wedding is tomorrow! Everybody has been great with helping us prepare and everything is shaping up nicely.

My brother is making a three-layer chocolate cake. It should easily feed all of our guests. It tastes like brownie; yummy!

Today we bought flowers from Costco and a wholesale florists and this evening my landlady and future mother-in-law arranged 15 vases of flowers and a bouquet for me. They look stunning, and yet the total cost of flowers was less than $200! That included 6 dozen roses as well as about 12 dozen lilies and another variety of flower whose name I forget.

The flowers are red, orange, hot pink and yellow mixed with dark green leaves. That colour combination may sound odd but I promise it looks fantastic; I should have photos tomorrow!

We have white paper tablecloths for the tables and hot pink and orange placemats. :)

Alex is wearing a red tie and I have a pink-red wrap to put around my shoulders. I'm still not sure about the dress but at least this way I can cover up the top (and my fat upper arms! ;) )

Alex's parents bought an arch for us to stand under which they are decorating with butterflies and more orange and pink decorations.

Now I have to go and make three chocolate mousses!

Oh and I ought to add that all of my family arrived safely, but my sister, who flew separately, was asked quite a few questions at POE about Alex, including this one: 'Why is Alex's last name Susoeff?' What kind of question is that?! I have no idea what I would've answered. Maybe, 'because his father's last name is that too?'

Oh! Congratulations Rachel!!

It seems you have everyhing organised and ready for your big day!

The flowers part sounded familiar to me; I bought my flowers in an open market the day before, and got some roses at Sam's club! With some imagination, it is the best way to save money, it is crazy to see how much the florists can charge you on a wedding!!

Well, enjoy your day tomorrow!!! :P

About me, I just received my EAD today, and I am super happy!!

My manager already have a copy of it, and I should be working in a couple of days!!! Yeah!!

How is everybody doing during the holidays? Do you all feel like you have eaten way too much and that maybe you should have eaten less cakes and cupcakes and cookies? :P

Blake if you come back here and read this, I hope you had a good holiday too! We miss you.

I haven't eaten too much (in fact I should probably be eating more; two meals a day is not good for my metabolism!) but I have been eating all the wrong kinds of things! ;)

Here are some photos!

cake.jpg

The cake my brother made. It was soooo rich - and less than half of it was eaten as a result, even though everyone had a slice!

One of the vases of flowers. :)

You can just about see the pink and orange placemats.

My dad paid last-minute for two nights away at a deluxe B&B for us in Half Moon Bay. I was so glad he did, it turned out to be the perfect ending to the wedding and it was lovely and warm on the Sunday. :)

We watched the sun set on the beach - so cliche of us!

I saw only yesterday that I got approved for my AP, but more important for my EAD!! I am so so happy! :D

YAY!!! Congrats Pam!!! :star:

I just received my Employment Authorization Card! Tomorrow I'll go get a driver license! (I don't care about the work part, I just want my license right now ) Also, it's strange because I had a feeling I would receive it in the mail today. Maybe I'm psychic!

Wonderful news Cecile! Do you happen to have any feelings about our EAD? Be sure to let me know when you feel them coming on!

Rachel, the sunset, the flowers and the cake look wonderful! :)

CourtAndGrey, I have noticed two trends: some people receive their EAD/AP several months before the green card, and for some other people they seem to receive the green card before (or at the same time!). My guess would be that you will have news about the AOS soon, since they have already been working on it. But that is only a guess, maybe I am wrong.

However, since you sent your packet in the middle of October, they should approve you EAD and AP within the next two weeks (that is assuming that they do work according to the timelines.

Thank you guys for the compliments!

Pam - Woah, it's crazy that you already have a job! But great to hear in this time of economic crisis.

Ugh...after this week I actually have to think about things, like getting my SSN and sending off my AOS package. What a bore! :P

I hope Grey's EAD and AP arrives soon, Courtney! It's actually really lovely down here in California at the moment - so warm and sunny. Wintertime is best!
