LMAO poor Gareth yes he kinda always has a little sleepy look going on as he has really weak eye muscles in one eye and that was only concern during his physical to come over LOL! I call it his magic eye. But yeah it brings us amusement as gets worse as he gets more tired or more drunk hahaa!

Question for all those already married.... how did you get license? I know it is different in each county and all but he obviously won't have his SSN number yet as we have to get license this week.....does he just bring passport and birth cert and that is it? I obviously need my SSN and birth cert and divorce cert and anything else???

lol sounds like my right eye... that eye is really bad in eye sight (kinda like a lazy eye but this is due to a scar inside my eye (long story short: I once had a white spot in my eye that had to be removed but eye sight was never regained in that eye).. the other eye is perfectly ok tho, but yah, as soon as i get tired, the normal eye will be smaller and the 'lazy' eye stays just as wide as it is in the morning lol (a bit like Forest Whitaker has)

And as for myself, here another little update :D

Michelle and I went to some places, such as the Social Security office, DMV, banks and such today for her name change (since we received the marriage certificate yesterday) and while at the DMV, I thought to myself, lets just go for the instruction permit (written test and eye exam) since it is not busy anyways.. result: I passed nicely without any study on it (only one mistake and a stupid one too lol) and got my instructional permit now :D :D As for my bad eye, I was tested on both eyes and they noticed (obviously) the bad eye so I got a notification in my license saying that I need to have a mirror on the right side of the car (all cars have that these days so no worries I think). Next step for the DMV will be the road test, which I might do tomorrow morning if I am awake on time, otherwise I just do it later lol, there's no rush. Also, there was no problem about my visa or anything, all they needed to see is my identification (passport but they didnt look at the visa or i94) and the SSN (SSN is basically already proof that you have a visa or they wont issue it). Im glad it all went so smoothly and as for gates of hell (remember the series? lol), no sign of that here in Hawaii :D

Also next steps since we received the certificate: AOS, EAD and AP... will do that this week probably (need some pictures taken at Costco). As for the other stuffs, I got the US bank accounts (incl both debit and credit cards, so we're earning credit now lol) and got myself added to a lot of other things already (such as the car insurance, shopping carts and stuff)..

Yup, I'm beginning to become more and more a resident here :D

Is your instruction permit good only until your I-94 expires, or does it work like a "normal" one?

I could have gotten a DL while on K1 but it would only have been valid until the end of October so I decided not to. The Department of Revenue website says that while adjusting my status I can get a DL, so I went to a first DMV office where they told me that it was wrong, I can't get one until I am approved for the AOS (or for the EAD). I went to a second office and the woman went to ask her supervisor (I assume that's what she did, she disappeared with all my paperwork for 5 minutes), and told me that when I have a proof that I am adjusting my status I can apply for a DL. So, just to make sure, when I received my NOA1, I came back to their office to ask them if the NOA1 is really what I need, and this time they told me that no, it had to be approved. which didn't make sense. So once outside the office, Bryan called the Department of Revenue for Missouri, and they told us that yes, I can have a DL even without being approved for the AOS. They told us that if the DMV office says something else, they should call the "Fraud and Immigration" department (yeah they put immigration with fraud, isn't that funny?). So we came back inside the office, told us what they had told us on the phone, and the woman said "Ok, then you go pass your driving exam and then you come back here and we'll call them to make sure, and there shouldn't be any problem"

So after all I should be able to have a DL soon.

And the DMV of Hawaii may be nice, but the ones in Missouri ARE the gates of Hell!!! :P

Man! You both lucky with that! Me still nothing,I try pretty much everyday to convince them, but it's getting worse worse! The lady I always talk to there, wants a paper with an expiration date! something that show that I am here legally...Things we don't have K1 holders! the only thing was the I94 already expired! And last time I call, the lady let me talk to the supervisor and he said that I was illegal, K1 doesn't exist. Only K3 allows me to drive and to be married to an American!!! And whenever you try to explain them that they are wrong, they keep repeating the same sentence again and again until you leave! Great effective technique, but totally stupid!!!
