I have a social security number!!! \o/

Congrats :D

I'm going in tomorrow to see if I can get mine.. keep my fingers crossed that they actually have me in the computer already, else we just go back next week hehe.

Also, does anyone knows if you get a SSN according to the state of the POE or according to the state you request it in? This because the first 3 digits would refer to the state that someone is born in but yah, us immigrants didn't get born here so that's why I wonder... I wouldn't want mine to be a minnesota one but rather a Hawaii one :)

Visas approved!!!!

Congratulations :D :D

Good luck to Gareth and Stevi today!! (well tmr for me but yah, stupid timezone haha)

He called and it was really loud in the background and he sounded down....I was like how are you.....then he said "Ok you?" ughhh "Yes bear I am fine, how are YOU?" PAUSE....."Well I guess you better bloody order my new monitor!" (he has a brand new tower he got built that has been here since January so he wants a computer monitor to be waiting for him so he can set it up the first day he is here while I am at work LOL). He said he wants to set it all up set it to do updates then not get on the thing for a long time! haha we are so sick of computers!

I asked him what they asked him and he said just "When was the last time you saw one another?" and "Have you visited one another any other times besides the time being turned away?" then she said "well hopefully this visit to the second room will go much smoother than last time!"

He said he spoke with her for about 1 minute it felt like and then he was off paying for stuff.

He did say he had to pay a fiver to get his phone looked after as they let these in last time and this time they didn't....

I will get more info from him when he is home and rested he said he did not sleep well last night at all in this basement tiny tiny tiny hotel room haha!

Sooo... I went to the social security office today, they were really nice there. We went this morning and the only things they wanted was my passport and the SS-5 form. I was done in a very short time (just had a bit of a wait (about 20-25 minutes) before that as it was a bit busy hehe) ^__^

I was feeling like I was taking a bit of a risk as I arrived exactly 14 days ago but since there was a federal holiday in between, it was a day less for them to enter my data into the computers. I also had my birth certificate with me as extra proof but no need for that.

In fact, the people were so nice, I decided this afternoon to go back to them :D

lol.. nah, wasn't because of that tho, my fiance told me the zip code was entered wrong on the receipt so I called the toll free number and asked what to do and they advised me to go back to the SSA office to get it fixed. No problem at all they said, they fixed it and I was on my way again, all in all I think the second time I was there, I was not even a minute inside lol.

So yeah, everything went really smooth (I'm so happy about that after reading all these horror stories haha) and I can expect my SSN to arrive within two weeks :D

Next step: marriage next Monday and then I'll just wait until I get the SSN and I can file for my AOS, AP and EAD and I can finally get my drivers license, been waiting for that (then I finally do not have to carry my passport around, which I hate to do as I only wear stuff without sufficient pockets coz of the nice weather lol).

Good to hear Jeroen! things are moving!

I went yesterday at the DMV to pass my instruction permit test which I succed!yaaay! I made 3 mistakes! now next step and the most difficult, the driving test! But I need to practice A LOT first, I've never ever driven before! Also I need to wait for biometrics, they told me they cannot give me a licence before the biometrics, because I only have the I 94 now which expires in November the 13th! and that mean for them I can't stay in the US after this date. So in order for them to give the licence, they need the paper they'll give me after biometrics saying that now I can stay in the country for good!

I hope my appointment letter will arrive soon! :)
