Sunny, I'm curious if the USCIS website showed an update after you phone call, or is that broken like the rest of the system. Just hang tough,we all know how stressful this process is, well at least us Cali filers do :)

Nope no date change yet! Which is why I am wondering if it is a generic response! My date still says Jan 26th or something like that.....

Hi guys,

I have a prob with my birth cert. it has my mother's name spelled wrong. I guess this is because they phonetically translated the name in english from the native languade. instead of "vaidehi" the name is "vaitheki". Will the consular officier pick on this? to be safe I had asked my mom to send me a notarised affidavit claiming both names refer to the same person.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Raghu

Raghu - I wouldn't worry too much, you sound well prepared. I'm sure I've read topics with the same question as yours before and from what I remember it's more important that your name is spelled correctly, and that they probably won't even glance at your mother's. I'd think the notarised document would be all you need. Good luck!

Blake - wow, I am sorry to hear you haven't been able to share your good news with Olga yet! It must be immensely frustrating. I hope that, as you say, she will be able to have an interview very soon after receiving the news, though! Makes me realise just how much I take having the internet at home/work for granted.

sunny - so sorry to hear your news. :( Hopefully the security check won't last more than a couple of weeks, and I too doubt it is anything to do with Gareth's failed entry into the US. Hopefully it's something as simple as just doing a little extra research into all the places you lived, and that it'll be over soon.

Thanks Rachel...well someone on another thread said they also may have sent me that as an excuse instead of saying "oops we forgot about your case" and I REALLY hope that is the case! Anyway logged into USCIS and there was a touch yesterday finally after not being touched since January! So that feels good at least to know it is back on the radar with them!

I agree that it's good to know you're on the radar screen with the CSC - although one hopes they're not armed to shoot you down....

Anyway, I'm sure that this is a couple week setback at most - I prefer the "oops" charachterization. I think that your delay in approval and my not being able to tell Olga that we're approved is somehow tied up in the same parallel universe. Could be....... :P Have a great weekend!

So tempted to call CSC, must...wait...be...patient...

Has anyone seen a NOA2 take longer because of children? I am so flustered about that. We have a kid together, he's not on the birth certificate though. Since he couldn't be physically present at the time. She's with me though, so should I not wonder anymore about that subject?

now im wondering for those who are not first timers in applying for a u.s. visa.. could that be a possible chance of prolonged investigation?

cus even i, applied before..tourist (denied, they said i dont have enough ties..i havent met my fiance yet on that time) and a student visa last may 2007 (when i qualified for a scholarship program by a university THAT IS NOT LOCATED IN CALIFORNIA) i never pursued the scholarship though, its a very long story and the fact that fiance and some of my relatives arent into it. so eventhough the university already sent me the forms and letter that states a request to the u.s. consul of the issuance of a student visa for me and the fact that i already paid "sevis fee" to the department of homeland and security - uscis. (it has something to do with security)...i just stopped doing anything about it and never called for an interview at the us embassy.

so what about it?

Like everyone here, I am still having good hopes that sunnybear or shes will get their NOA2 really really soon!!! It always sucks when some of the thread are left behind! Try to keep your good energy girls!!! We cannot wait to see you doing the happy dance! (L)

Hey Pam!

Hi SHES and also everyone else! I am sooo happy we got a touch on the 13th (because of the security thing) but also on the 14th as I stated above. It prob don't mean much but to me just happy to be on their radar!

As for what phone number I called I just called the regular one posted on their site and then pushed the numbers saying I had a question on documents! Somehow that led me to a real person! I am sorry I have no idea what code of numbers I pushed to get there but I know it was about questions on documents (not the RFE one either).

Hope everyone has a great Sunday and this week brings more approvals!!!

Actually No, I really haven't seen any correlation between the length of processing time and the existence of children. Your child is a US citizen and should have her own passport already. Did you register witht he American embassy when she was born to notify them that she is the daughter of a USC?
